We currently have an opportunity for a Bid Writer to join our Bid & Proposals team and play a key role in shaping compelling, client‑focused bid submissions that win work and support sustainable growth across our portfolio’s, based in Melbourne. Reporting to the Head of Submissions, you'll help deliver high-quality outcomes that support our essential services.
What You’ll Do
This role offers a broad scope, with key responsibilities including:
Leading the development of clear, compelling bid content that translates complex technical solutions into client-focused narratives, aligned to Downer’s brand and bid strategy.
Working closely with Bid Managers, Opportunity Owners and subject matter experts to shape win themes, case studies and key messages that differentiate our proposals.
Coordinating writing timelines, reviews and submission requirements so every response is compliant, well-structured and delivered on time.
Partnering with bid specialists and graphic design experts to create polished, visually engaging submissions that reflect the Downer Difference.
Contributing to the continuous improvement of our bid library, processes and tools, sharing ideas that lift quality, efficiency and the team’s capability.
What You’ll Bring
Tertiary qualifications in business, communications, project management or a related discipline (or equivalent experience), with APMP or similar bid/proposal training highly regarded.
Experience in bid or proposal writing, technical writing or a related field, collaborating with subject matter experts to develop tailored content for complex opportunities.
Strong writing and editing skills, with advanced proficiency in MS Word and the ability to present information in a clear, persuasive and audience-appropriate way.
An organised, detail-focused approach, with confidence managing multiple projects, deadlines and stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.
A collaborative mindset and the ability to build positive relationships across diverse teams, supporting others and sharing knowledge generously.
