Summary
You will build and implement cloud infrastructure for our clients' business objectives in the public cloud. You will work with guidance from senior team members to deliver cloud solutions, bringing growing technical expertise and a desire to expand your skills.
The Cloud Engineer builds, deploys, and supports cloud infrastructure and services to meet client needs. You will implement cloud solutions following established architectural patterns and security best practices, working with guidance from senior cloud architects as needed. This role requires foundational proficiency in at least one major cloud platform and the ability to execute technical implementations effectively.
Responsibilities (including, but not limited to the following)
- Build and implement cloud infrastructure with guidance from senior team members
- Support clients in implementing cloud solutions based on defined requirements
- Document cloud infrastructure deployments and basic design patterns
- Troubleshoot cloud services issues and escalate complex problems appropriately
- Participate in design reviews to understand architectural decisions
- Monitor cloud infrastructure performance and identify potential issues
- Implement security controls for cloud deployments
- Assist in creating documentation, policies, and procedures for cloud services
- Collaborate with team members to deliver client solutions
- Execute deployment tasks using Infrastructure as Code tools
- Support CI/CD processes for cloud infrastructure
- Practical experience with containerization and orchestration technologies
Skills
- Ability to communicate technical concepts to team members and clients
- Ability to work under pressure and with deadlines
- Logical thinker with basic troubleshooting skills
- Must have availability to occasionally work nights and some weekends
- Working knowledge of at least one major public cloud platform (Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud) including networking, compute, and security concepts
- Familiarity with Windows Server Technologies, including Active Directory
- Basic familiarity with containerization concepts
- Familiarity with Windows and Linux environments
- Familiarity with git and version control in conjunction with Azure DevOps repositories
- Basic understanding of deploying to Azure using Terraform
- Foundational understanding of deploying to Azure using CI/CD processes
- Foundational experience with administering Power Platform environments
- Foundational experience with administering Microsoft Fabric
- Familiarity with Azure DevOps Boards
- Ability to understand business requirements and translate them to technical tasks
- Basic scripting capabilities in PowerShell, Bash, or Python
- Ability to read and understand basic code and configuration files
Qualifications
- 1-2 years of experience in cloud engineering or related IT infrastructure roles
- Foundational experience in Systems Engineering or DevOps practices
- Entry-level certification in at least one public cloud platform (e.g., AWS Cloud Practitioner, AZ-900, GCP Cloud Digital Leader)
- Demonstrated automation-oriented mindset with willingness to script repetitive tasks
- Basic understanding of cloud computing concepts and services
- Basic understanding of cloud economics including cost factors for different services
- Basic understanding of business use cases for cloud solutions
- Foundational understanding of security concepts and controls for cloud services
- Basic problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities
- Understanding of fundamental Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) and Platform as a Service (PaaS) concepts
- Experience in the financial sector a plus
- Experience working at an MSP a plus
