Lifeline Australia is a national suicide prevention charity providing all Australians experiencing emotional distress with access to 24-hour crisis support and suicide prevention services. Lifeline Australia Ltd (LLA) is located in Sydney, with small teams of dedicated staff employed to lead funding and corporate relations activities, and to provide the design, technical infrastructure and governance of services across Lifeline’s member network.

ROLE

The Compliance Officer is responsible for monitoring and supporting third-party training partners to ensure ongoing compliance with regulatory standards and contractual obligations when delivering nationally recognised training on behalf of the RTO.

The role focuses on monitoring activities and administrative coordination to help protect the RTO’s registration and reputation, while maintaining consistent delivery standards across all partner sites.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the implementation of the compliance monitoring framework across all training delivery partners.
  • Conduct scheduled compliance checks and assist with audits of partner facilities, training delivery, and assessment practices.
  • Monitor partner adherence to ASQA Standards for RTOs.
  • Maintain detailed compliance registers and support risk assessments for each training partner.
  • Support investigations into compliance incidents, complaints, or concerns.
  • Assist with coordinating corrective action plans and improvement strategies.
  • Prepare compliance monitoring reports and support recommendations for management review.
  • Verify and maintain records of trainer and assessor qualifications, including vocational competencies, TAE credentials, and industry currency.
  • Monitor and track trainer professional development and industry currency activities.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of all partner arrangements in line with ASQA Standards.
  • Assist in conducting risk assessments for prospective and current third parties.
  • Support implementation and tracking of risk mitigation strategies.
  • Monitor external factors and indicators that may impact third party compliance.
  • Contribute to early warning systems to detect potential breaches or performance issues.
  • Assist with regular risk reviews and updates to documentation under management guidance.
  • Support reporting processes related to third-party training arrangements.
  • Assist in preparing reports and responses to inquiries or investigations involving third parties.
  • Maintain current knowledge of relevant regulatory changes.
  • Prepare briefing materials on third party performance and compliance status for management review.

ABOUT YOU

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in RTO compliance including monitoring adherence to ASQA Standards, third-party arrangements, and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience working in the vocational education and training (VET) sector, applying RTO compliance principles in operational settings.
  • Proven experience managing RTO compliance documentation, maintaining accurate records, and supporting audits and reporting processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess and mitigate RTO compliance risks, implement corrective actions, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Understanding of risk management principles and their application in RTO compliance (desirable).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey compliance requirements and engage effectively with a range of stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively and support strong compliance and partner relationship management.
  • Flexible, adaptable, and diplomatic when addressing complex or sensitive RTO compliance issues with training partners.
  • Diploma in Quality, Compliance, or Business Administration (desirable).
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116 or equivalent) (desirable).
