Impartially conducts investigations, recovery, and preservation of electronically stored information to protect Chevron.

Forensics Casework​

• Manages and prioritizes forensics cases as assigned​

• Reviews, understands, and applies endorsement parameters and data privacy guidance for each assigned forensics case​

• Demonstrates a thorough understanding of chain of custody and evidence handling​

• Demonstrates proper acquisition techniques and analysis of digital evidence​

• Holds all forensics casework in strict confidence, understanding the impact of breach of confidentiality for end users & corporate reputation​

• Participates in investigation teams including investigative interviews ​

Forensics Case Documentation & Expert Testimony​

• Completes thorough, accurate, and defensible technical case notes​

• Prepares final reports for external entities such as government agencies and outside counsel​

• Testifies in administrative hearings or court of law as required​

​

Forensics Tool & IT Knowledge​

• Develops and maintains proficient to expert level knowledge of approved digital forensic tools and processes to complete assigned forensics cases ​

• Fundamental knowledge of IT systems (e.g., hardware, software) and electronically stored information (ESI) data sources​

• Develops and maintains an understanding of the Chevron network to evaluate and troubleshoot data source collections​

Forensics Process Knowledge​

• Develops and demonstrates a thorough working knowledge of the approved forensic standard operating procedures​

Mentoring​

• Provides mentoring for less experienced team members on an ad hoc basis​

• Provides mentoring for new team members as assigned by the Forensics Ops Lead​

​

Self-Development​

• Collaborates with forensics team members to share and gain knowledge ​

• Earns and maintains digital forensics certifications ​

• Joins and participates in digital forensics associations (e.g., IACIS, HTCIA)​

• Develops digital forensics specialties (e.g., mobility, Mac forensics) to increase individual and team capabilities​

• Seeks internal and external training to stay current with forensics tools, processes and best practices​

Forensics Tool Testing & Research​

• Conducts testing and validations for newly acquired forensics tools and forensics software upgrades​

• Provides SME input and conducts testing for forensics tools being considered for purchase
