TITLE: SENIOR PORTFOLIO MANAGER
STATUS: EXEMPT
REPORTS TO: DIR – BUSINESS LENDING
DEPARTMENT: BUSINESS SERVICES
JOB CODE: 11196
PAY RANGE: $124,700.00 - $127,000.00 ANNUALLY

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Senior Portfolio Manager will participate in performing financial research, underwriting, and review of highly complex relationships within Commercial Portfolio Management area. This position will receive, review, and research business financial statements and tax returns that require an in-depth evaluation of multiple factors. Resolve moderately complex issues and lead Commercial Portfolio team, to meet project deliverables, while leveraging solid understanding of the function, policies, procedures, and compliance requirements. Collaborate and consult with peers, colleagues, and mid-level managers to resolve issues and achieve goals Lead projects and teams or serve as a mentor for less experienced individuals.


TASKS, DUTIES, FUNCTIONS:

1. Participate with the Commercial Lender in meetings with the client or prospects.
2. Interviews applicants to obtain sufficient information concerning their specific projects, financial needs, and goals to make acceptable risk determinations for existing portfolio.
3. Assist the Commercial Lender to assure that all relevant information is provided to the credit department in a timely and efficient manner so that all credits can be reviewed for risk migration in a timely manner.
4. Monitors ongoing risk of the exposure, including periodic reviews of the borrower and related entities. 5. Works closely with credit administrators, credit Analysts, Loan Processers, and other staff to assure high level of quality was previously completed in each credit application.
5. Ensures current risk assessment of each credit facility is accurate and escalates credits for which they have identified increased risk.
6. Maintain tickler, tracking, monitoring, and reporting systems such as pending loan and collateral documentation, ongoing operational and financial documentation, completion status of annual loan reviews, and covenant tracking and reporting
7. Maintain a thorough understanding of state and federal laws and regulations related to credit union compliance including bank secrecy and anti-money laundering laws appropriate to the position.
8. Foster a positive and engaging work environment for each team member by promoting skill development, coaching for improvement and growth, inspiring others through your words and actions, ensuring positive employee morale throughout Golden 1, and embracing our mission, vision, and core values.
9. Provide fundamental and technical advice to members of the management team regarding recommendations to favorably position the Credit Union.
10. Maintain knowledge in all applicable laws, regulations, policies, and economic influences and keep senior management informed of any changes.
11. Review call report schedules and other regulatory reporting.
12. Compile and present information action reports to senior management as required.
13. Performs other duties as assigned


PHYSICAL SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND EXERTION UTILIZED IN THE PERFORMANCE OF THESE TASKS:

1. Effective oral and written communication skills.
2. Must possess sufficient manual dexterity to skillfully operate an on-line computer terminal and other standard office equipment, such as financial calculators, personal computers, facsimile machine and telephone.
ORGANIZATIONAL CONTACTS & RELATIONSHIPS:

1. INTERNAL: Board and levels of management (Managers, VPs, SVPs, and CEO), and key staff.
2. EXTERNAL: Industry peers and leaders, legal third-party vendors, community, regulators and trade organizations.
QUALIFICATIONS:

• EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a quantitative field preferred.
• EXPERIENCE: A minimum of five years or more experience in commercial portfolio management for financial institution and broad financial analytics in the banking and financial services industry.
• KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
◦ Advanced knowledge of the Credit Union’s business procedures and objectives; excellent demonstrated analytical, communications, organizational, and decision-making skills.
◦ A mastery of oral and written communications skills. Ability to think and implement strategically.
◦ Broad and deep understanding of data and methods of data management and analysis.
◦ Strong understanding of compliance requirements, enterprise risk management and a broad and detailed understanding of the financial services industry.
◦ Demonstrated ability to work independently and interact collaboratively and cultivate partnerships across the organization.
◦ Strong business acumen and financial management skills.
◦ Ability to take conceptual information and/or emerging trends and write management-ready, professional reports.
◦ Solid understanding of technology and its utilization as a competitive enabler in financial services.
◦ Strong inter-personal skills.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

1. Prolonged sitting throughout the workday with occasional mobility required.
2. Corrected vision within the normal range.
3. Hearing within normal range. A device to enhance hearing will be provided if needed.
4. Occasional movements throughout the department daily to interact with staff, accomplish tasks, etc.
5. Minimal Ability to travel for business, as needed for trips to offsite and out-of-area locations.
