Job Summary 

The Senior Audit Manager has full ownership, accountability, and responsibility for the audit universe of their assigned areas. The Senior Audit Manager supports the Chief Audit Executive (“CAE”) in the completion of the risk assessment and annual audit plan by planning and conducting internal audits, reviewing and supervising work of staff auditors/co-source, and conforming to the Internal Audit Charter and Standards.  This position also assists the CAE with Audit Committee reporting as well as various work efforts such as annual FDICIA control testing, quarterly continuous monitoring, regulatory issue validation, and audit issue tracking management.

Essential Duties

  • Effectively manage and execute multiple audits/projects simultaneously
  • Responsible for annual audit planning process, including quarterly risk assessment
  • Ensure the overall quality, consistency, risk management and adherence to the Internal Audit Charter and Standards, identifying opportunities for audit process improvements
  • Assign issue and/or report ratings and management action plan (as appropriate)
  • Draft and finalize audit report with recommendations
  • Manage issue tracking, follow up, and validation of remediated issues
  • Responsible for resource allocation and audit team scheduling
  • Manage the co-source partnership as needed
  • Develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with management, learning and understanding the business to better provide value-added services, help management achieve objectives, and enhance customer satisfaction
  • Maintain a professional development plan to continually enhance technical, interpersonal and management skills
  • Manage special projects at the request of the Chief Audit Executive
  • Assist the Chief Audit Executive with periodic Audit Committee reporting
  • Ensure audit team maintains appropriate awareness of assigned audit universe
  • As directed by the Chief Audit Executive, assist external auditors and regulators in the execution of their audits/examinations
  • Maintain a professional development plan to develop technical, interpersonal and management skills
  • Keep up with development and changes in industry trends and regulatory environment to align the internal audit function

Compliance & Corporate 

 Essential Duties

  • Compliance internal audits include, but are not limited to Bank Secrecy Act, Fair Lending, Branch Operations Compliance, Lending Compliance (commercial and consumer), SAFE Act, HMDA, CRA, UDAAP, Regulation B, Regulation O & W, Regulation E, as well as Compliance Management System
  • Maintain appropriate knowledge of current and pending compliance laws and regulations
  • Corporate internal audits include Lending, Credit Administration, Model Risk Management, Third Party Risk Management, Enterprise Risk Management, Corporate Governance and Strategy, Capital Planning, Peer Analysis, Capital Ratio and Stress Testing
  • Maintain appropriate knowledge of corporate credit and risk areas

Complies with all State and Federal Banking regulatory requirements, including but not limited to: BSA, Anti-Money Laundering OFAC, CIP, Financial Elder Abuse Reporting, Sexual Harassment, Information Security and privacy requirements. Acts as the control point for the office to ensure that all CIP, BSA, OFAC requirements, procedures and time frames are met.

Non-Essential Duties

  • Assist the Chief Audit Executive with recruiting, developing, and mentoring audit team
  • Foster and maintain group spirit and team morale
  • Provide periodic coaching to audit team as needed
  • Effectively manage through complex issues and relationships
  • Be familiar with Bank’s practices, policies, and culture
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Working knowledge of IT processes and principles preferred

 

Required Knowledge 

  • Sound judgment, integrity and commitment to ethical behavior

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Understanding of internal auditing standards, COSO, and risk assessment practices, audit principles, and awareness of Global Internal Audit Standards

  • Proficient with MS Office products
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Detail oriented, accurate, and organized
  • Strong time management skills
  • Ability to provide periodic feedback to audit team
  • Knowledge of risk management principles and practices in banks
  • Ability to work independently, with limited direction and guidance

  • Flexible and able to adapt quickly to changing work environments / priorities and tight deadlines

 

Officer Title Eligibility

For qualified positions, the Bank may designate an Officer Title to an employee who seeks and/or meets defined competencies for an eligible position. This position qualifies for the officer title(s) First Vice President and Vice President.

Education and Experience 

  • BS or BA Degree required, preferred majors in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, Information Systems or Economics or equivalent work experience required
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Information Security Auditor (CISA) or other related certification required
  • Ten (10) or more years of financial service industry experience required in: internal audit, public accounting, risk management, regulatory agency or related experience
  • Thorough knowledge of Global Internal Audit Standards, COSO and bank regulatory standards
  • Supervisory experience required
  • Large/Regional banking experience strongly preferred
  • Previous “large firm” public accounting experience a plus 
  • Experience with audit software is preferred
  • Experience in data analytics preferred
  • Work experience with IT Audit knowledge preferred
  • Working knowledge of AuditBoard, Jack Henry (Silverlake/Xperience), COGNOS a plus

Education & Experience

  • Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM), Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS), Certified Risk Management Assurance (CRMA), or other compliance related certifications highly preferred
  • Certified Risk Management Assurance (CRMA), Credit Risk Certification (CRC), Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Certified Third Party Risk Professional (CTPRP), Certified Third Party Risk Assessor (CTPRA), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), or other risk management related certifications highly preferred
