Your Opportunity

We are seeking a Traffic Analyst to join our multidisciplinary team in the New York City office. Ideal candidates will have 1-2 years of experience in transportation engineering or planning. The team specializes in traffic and revenue forecasting for toll facilities across the United States, offering a unique blend of transportation engineering, planning, and economics expertise. We emphasize training, collaboration, and interpersonal connections, which are strengthened by working side-by-side with colleagues. This is a hybrid role, requiring a minimum of three days per week in the office.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in conducting transportation planning studies, including traffic impact studies, traffic operations analyses, crash analyses, and speed studies.
  • Support Transportation Planning and Traffic Engineering (TPTE) portions of Environmental Impact Assessments and Planning and Environmental Linkages studies, coordinating with other disciplines.
  • Participate in traffic data collection programs and analyze collected data.
  • Contribute to iterative roadway design processes alongside roadway and structural engineers.
  • Prepare materials for public outreach meetings and facilitate clear visual communication of technical concepts for public audiences.
  • Perform microsimulation and mesoscopic modeling, integrating findings into final project recommendations.
  • Draft technical memoranda and comprehensive reports.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Knowledge of TPTE principles and best practices.
  • Familiarity with TPTE standards, codes, and requirements.
  • Understanding of National Environmental Protection Act (NEPA) studies and guidelines.
  • Experience with traffic analysis tools such as Synchro and HCS.
  • Experience with VISSIM, ArcGIS, or Adobe Illustrator.
  • Extensive experience with Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Proficiency with standard business software, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to communicate technical findings to general audiences.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Transportation Planning, City and Regional Planning, Operations Research, or a related field. A master’s degree is considered an asset.
  • Minimum of 1 years of professional experience is preferred. Previous internship experience a plus. 
  • Engineering in Training (EIT) license, successful completion of the FE exam, or ability to obtain EIT within six months of employment.

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
