Buyer
Colorado Springs Utilities is hiring a Buyer to support the purchase and timely delivery of goods and services for the organization while leveraging negotiated and executed agreements. You will work closely with our team of procurement professionals to ensure our alignment with high-performing suppliers that maintain compliance with commercial terms. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to develop and implement process improvements and solutions that build relationships with suppliers, helping ensure our organization's ability to purchase goods and services that enable us to effectively deliver safe and reliable utility services to our customers.
What Else Will You be Doing?
- Leveraging negotiated and executed agreements to obtain materials, supplies, equipment, and services from suppliers at the lowest cost while considering quality, reliability, and urgency
- Reviewing, processing, tracking, and expediting orders, and organizing product information and tracking back orders
- Managing our internal inventory system catalog to ensure goods and services are added in addition to proper min/max levels
- Evaluating safety stock to ensure items are available for emergency situations
- Ensuring reservations and accurate items are ordered at adequate inventory levels to meet project schedules and ensure all organizational needs are met
- Generating, researching, and evaluating reorder points based on product need, availability, cost, and turnover ratio
- Suggesting and implementing improvements to buying practices and supplier management policies
Who You Are
- Demonstrated buyer, purchasing, and/or procurement experience, preferably within the utilities or manufacturing industry
- Experience with building and managing supplier/vendor relationships
- Associate's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field is valued
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, any of the following certifications - Certified Purchasing Professional (CPP), Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM), Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM)
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
Exerts up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally and/or small amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met. Positions in this class typically require talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions within an office working environment.
