Winpak is seeking a Credit and Collections Manager based in Winnipeg, Manitoba to join our Accounting/Credit Team. Qualified internal candidates will be given priority consideration.
We are seeking an experienced finance professional to join our team and play a pivotal role in managing Winpak’s accounts receivable across multiple regions. Reporting to the Senior Finance Business Partner, you will oversee credit approvals, drive the collection of overdue balances, and ensure that all AR records for Winpak Ltd, Winpak Inc, and Winpak Mexico are accurate, up-to-date, and fully reconciled. Key Responsibilities:
- Credit Approval & Account Management: Review and approve customer credit, monitor risk accounts, and communicate with finance leadership on orders requiring credit hold.
- Cash Collection & Receivables: Drive timely collection of past-due accounts, resolve disputes, and ensure accurate posting of daily cash receipts and bank deposits.
- Customer Communication: Address account issues, including product disputes, unauthorized deductions, and customer complaints, collaborating with sales as needed.
- Credit Risk Assessment: Research and assess the creditworthiness of new and existing customers, establishing appropriate credit limits.
- Credit Insurance & External Liaison: Manage relationships with credit insurance providers and third-party credit information services, including policy renewals and reporting.
- Month-End & Financial Reporting: Approve and oversee preparation of commission and rebate journal entries, month-end working papers, DDSO, allowance for doubtful accounts, and other financial reports.
- Team Leadership & Development: Supervise Credit Supervisor and indirectly oversee Credit Coordinators, managing workload, issue resolution, and staff development.
- Audit & Compliance: Support internal and external audits, ensure departmental policies, ISO, and SQF standards are met, and safeguard company assets.
- Process Improvement: Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance credit, collection, and accounts receivable processes.
Required Qualifications:
- Grade 12 diploma or equivalent
- Completed post-secondary education in an accounting program
- 6+ years related accounts receivable experience with a strong emphasis on collection of overdue accounts.
- 3+ years of experience in a supervisory or managerial role
- Proficient with computer-related accounting software and Microsoft Office or similar software.
- Strong interpersonal and communication (verbal and written)
- Excellent organizational, prioritization, and time management skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bilingual in French and Spanish would be an asset.
Additional Information:
- This position is 100% onsite located in Murray Industrial Park in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
- There is limited bus access to this location.
