Role: Software Engineer – Android Development

Location: Kharadi Pune

We are looking for a passionate and experienced Software Engineer - Android Mobile Developer to join our development team. The role requires expertise in Android development and APIs for medical devices. The candidate should be able to quickly learn new concepts, leveraging existing procedures and other team member's knowledge. The role involves advanced knowledge in communication and Android front-end libraries, contributing to architectural design choices considering cyber security. The candidate should be able to autonomously solve problems in its area of expertise and acquire the necessary knowledge when problems fall outside of comfort zone.

What will you be doing?

  • Development of rapid proof-of-concept prototyping and feasibility demonstrators for surgical navigation applications on mobile devices (Android).

  • Writing of production-level mobile code following established design patterns and corresponding documentation

  • Participate in software architectural design definition and input of specific expertise for design decisions, requirements development and software testing

  • Be accountable for the entirety of the software produced in each software increment, from definition of requirements and acceptance criteria to documentation and testing of the work done

  • Build software-focused automation frameworks for mobile codebases.

  • Support debugging and root cause analysis of software under support.

  • Champion a strong quality mindset and advocate quality-first practices across teams.

  • Perform design control functions to ensure compliance with IEC 62304.

What will you need to be successful?

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, Electronics / Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Information Technology, Equivalent hands-on mobile development.

  • Minimum 2 years of Android development using Kotlin, including libraries and services.

  • Ability to test logic, state machines, and error handling in Kotlin.

  • Experience writing unit and component-level tests for mobile applications.

  • Familiarity with modern mobile architectural patterns for scalable and maintainable applications.

  • Knowledge of Python or Shell scripting for automation is a plus.

  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI).

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Competencies:

  • Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, troubleshooting, and analytical skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of influencing cross-functional teams.

  • Passion for learning emerging technologies and applying innovation in mobile development and testing.

  • Experience working in regulated, safety-critical, or compliance-driven environments is a strong advantage.

  • Hands-on experience in one or more of the following domains is encouraged:

  • Medical Devices / Healthcare Software (highly preferred)

  • Automotive / ADAS / AUTOSAR-based systems

  • Industrial Automation / Robotics
