ANALYST COMMERCIAL FINANCE (MODERN TRADE & EXPORTS)
Role Objective
Support Commercial Finance for Modern Trade and Exports channels, driving robust financial governance, receivables management, customer profitability, and commercial controls. The role will partner closely with Sales, Customer Development, Exports team, and Supply Chain to enable profitable growth, disciplined working capital, and strong financial hygiene.
Key Responsibilities
Receivable Management (Modern Trade & Exports)
Manage receivables for all Modern Trade and Export customers
Conduct credit evaluation for existing and new MT/Export customers
Perform timely debtor reviews and proactively flag credit and collection risks
Lead month-end provisions for doubtful debts, including recovery action plans
Drive quarterly customer reconciliations for MT and Export accounts
Own and actively drive DSO improvement for MT and Export channels
Export-Specific Controls & Compliance
Ensure export documentation and commercial controls are in place (invoices, credit notes, claims, customer balances)
Partner with Exports team to track shipment-wise receivables and settlements
Support reconciliation of export claims, deductions, and adjustments
Ensure timely visibility on overdue export receivables and risk exposure
Payables & Claims Management
Validate and ensure timely settlement of claims, rebates, and payouts for MT and Export customers
Ensure appropriate financial controls and approvals prior to any payout
Track and review open claims and deductions, ensuring timely closure
Pricing & Trade Terms (TOT) Review
Validate customer pricing for Modern Trade and Exports on a regular basis
Review and govern Trade Terms (TOT) to ensure adherence to commercial agreements
Partner with Sales to ensure pricing integrity and compliance across customers
Month-End Close & Commercial Reporting
Lead monthly analysis of schemes, promotions, and trade spends
Partner with Sales and Marketing to review promo effectiveness and ROI
Ensure accurate provisioning and accruals at customer / SKU / category level
Analyze customer profitability and channel contribution
MIS, Analytics & Business Partnering
Prepare monthly / periodic P&L at Customer / Channel level (MT & Exports)
Provide decision-support analytics to Commercial and Business teams
Develop insights on customer performance, spend efficiency, and margin drivers
Support commercial negotiations with data-backed financial inputs
Balance Sheet Review & Controls
Own Balance Sheet Review (BSR) for MT and Export portfolios
Ensure strong BS hygiene, ageing analysis, and detailed reconciliations
Partner with Controller group for timely and accurate reporting
Lead monthly review of open items, provisions, and recoverability
Key Stakeholder Management
Liaise closely with Sales, Customer Development, Exports, Supply Chain, and CS&L teams
Partner with Controllers and Corporate Finance for governance and reporting
Act as a strong finance partner to drive commercial discipline and growth enablement
Prior exposure to Modern Trade and/or Export markets is a strong advantage
Skills & Competencies
Functional & Technical
Strong understanding of Modern Trade commercial finance
Exposure to Exports finance / receivables / claims management preferred
High proficiency in Excel and financial analysis
Hands-on experience with large ERP systems (SAP/Oracle or similar)
Qualification & Experience
CA / MBA Finance / ICWA or relevant finance qualification
2–6 years of experience in Commercial Finance / Customer Finance, preferably in FMCG
