The Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame (CSHF), a subsidiary of SOCAN, is a national, bilingual, non-profit organization that honours and celebrates Canada’s greatest songwriters. As the nation’s sole Hall of Fame for songwriting, the CSHF raises awareness of the incredible contributions Canadian songwriters have made both at home and globally. ABOUT THE ROLE
The Marketing and Communications Lead is a key role in delivering innovative PR, marketing and communication initiatives that celebrate Canada's greatest songwriters and support the development of emerging music creators. The role focuses on executing high-quality marketing and communications work, coordinating campaigns, creating compelling content, and supporting organizational visibility. The ideal candidate is proactive, creative, adaptable, collaborative and entrepreneurial in spirit. Bilingual fluency in English and French is preferred.
WHAT YOU’LL DO / KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic & Campaign Support:
• Contribute to the development and execution of communications, marketing and content strategies that align with CSHF’s overall organizational goals and objectives, ensuring music creators continue to be valued and celebrated for their extraordinary talent and work.
• Coordinate and lead logistics for key CSHF initiatives, including induction events, Song & Score Week / Song & Score Day, and programming for emerging music creators.
• Support the creation and develop content for across various channels, including social media (e.g. Meta, TikTok, LinkedIn, YouTube), the cshf.ca website and newsletters.
• Help enhance the organization's brand reputation; ensure consistent messaging, visual identity, and tone across all communication materials and platforms.
• Lead in expanding CSHF’s online presence by executing innovative digital marketing activities.
• Track and report on marketing and communications performance; providing insights from data to refine approaches and enhance future campaigns.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement:
• Work closely with external contractors and freelancers (e.g., writers, videographers, photographers, graphic designers, web developers, PR partners) by coordinating deliverables and timelines.
• Act as a liaison between the CSHF and SOCAN’s communications and marketing department.
• Support the CSHF team to develop clear goals that are aligned to the business strategy.
• Build and maintain a high awareness of the CSHF, SOCAN and the songwriting and publishing industry and maintain positive, collaborative relationships inductees, artists, funders, and stakeholders.
• Stay up to date with industry trends, market developments, and competitor activities to maintain a competitive communication edge.
Content Creation & Promotion:
• Coordinate the production of high-quality marketing and sponsorship materials, supporting presentations, and promotional efforts.
• Create high-quality written content to increase awareness of CSHF for various channels and formats, including websites, newsletters, reports and social media.
• Develop graphic and audio-visual content for the cshf.ca website, social media and digital marketing platforms.
• Assist with the creation of key messages, news releases, inductee bios, event speeches, and video scripts to support external education and outreach efforts.
• Identifying opportunities for new original engaging content leveraging inductees and artists.
• Utilize partnerships to build collaborative efforts and support for our initiatives.
• Conduct market research to identify trends relevant to the CSHF’s core audience.
Project Management:
• Initiate and manage assigned projects ensuring project objectives are met and delivery is on time and budget.
• Lead the execution of deliverables for various CSHF initiatives and events, collaborating with suppliers, sponsors, and partners.
• Lead online campaigns development to complement various communication and marketing initiatives.
• Recommend improvements and optimization of future communication and marketing efforts.
***Other marketing and communications responsibilities, admin and operational tasks as needed.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING / QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
• Degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or related field.
• Minimum of 3 years' progressive experience in marketing, events and PR, preferably within the music or cultural sectors.
• Demonstrated experience leading large-scale PR and marketing campaigns and events.
• Exceptional bilingual communication skills (English/French) is preferred.
