We are looking for a talented Industrial Engineer - Senior - to join our team specializing in Manufacturing for our Cummins location in Fletcher, NC. 

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:    

  • Effective Communication: Deliver clear, audience specific communication that improves understanding, alignment, and decision-making across teams. 
  • Ergonomic Leadership: Apply to ergonomic standards and tools to reduce workplace risks and create safer, more comfortable environments for employees. 
  • Health & Safety Advocacy: Model proactive safety behaviors, identify hazards, and support initiatives that strengthen an injury-free, interdependent safety culture. 
  • Line Balancing Optimization: Analyze work activities to redistribute tasks, improve operating time, and ensure processes adapt efficiently to changing customer demands. 
  • Data Driven Manufacturing Design: Use digital modeling and simulation tools to evaluate processes and equipment, enabling smarter, evidence-based improvements before implementation. 
  • Manufacturing Process Expertise: Implement process, equipment, and application changes that enhance performance, support functional needs, and drive continuous improvement. 
  • Process Layout Innovation: Design and refine manufacturing layouts that reduce waste, streamline production steps, and optimize human machine interaction for maximum efficiency. 
  • Work Measurement Excellence: Break down processes into measurable elements to identify waste, rebalance workloads, and improve overall process flow and productivity. 

To be successful in this role you will need the following:   

  • Work Study Leadership: Ability to lead work studies for both new and existing production lines to identify improvements, optimize performance, and support operational goals. 
  • Standard Work Development: Skill in creating, implementing, and maintaining standard work methods that drive consistency, quality, and efficiency across production lines. 
  • Manufacturing Process Ownership: Capability to lead projects that design and implement full manufacturing processes that meet safety requirements, business objectives, manufacturing targets, and product specifications. 
  • Manufacturing Principles Expertise: Advanced knowledge of manufacturing principles and practices, with the ability to apply them to improve equipment, processes, and overall operational effectiveness. 
  • Standards Management: Ability to uphold Cummins manufacturing standards while developing new standards that support evolving production and business needs. 
  • Stakeholder Communication & Influence: Strong communication skills to lead discussions, influence external partners, collaborate with business leaders, and align functional teams around project goals. 
  • Cross Functional Project Collaboration: Experience working with internal and external resources to drive project execution, resolve issues, and ensure successful delivery of manufacturing initiatives. 
  • Coaching & Relationship Building: Ability to maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders and provide coaching that supports adoption of best practices, continuous improvement, and operational excellence. 
  • Process Analysis & Improvement: Capability to analyze and improve production processes to enhance safety, quality, efficiency, and overall operational performance. 
  • Lean Problem-solving Skills: Proficiency in applying lean methodologies and tools such as A3, DMAIC, 8D, 5Why, and Fishbone to identify root causes and implement sustainable solutions. 
  • TPS Implementation Support: Experience supporting and coaching teams in the implementation of the Toyota Production System (TPS) or similar production systems. 
  • Project & Kaizen Leadership: Ability to lead projects and facilitate Kaizen events that drive continuous improvement and measurable operational gains. 
  • Educational Foundation: Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field, with a preference for a master’s degree. 
  • Industrial Engineering Experience: At least five years of experience as an Industrial Engineer or in a closely related field, demonstrating strong technical and analytical capabilities. 
  • Lean Six Sigma Certification: Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification required to support structured problem-solving and process improvement initiatives. 

Education, Licenses, Certifications: 
College, university, or degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) or related field, or equivalent experience required. 
This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations. 
 
Experience: 
Intermediate level relevant work experience required.
