Role description:
The Senior Workplace Design Manager – Architectural, is responsible for managing and coordinating workplace design projects, lead the assurance of design quality, consistency, and cost-effectiveness across workplace interior architecture projects ensuring alignment with organizational standards and stakeholder requirements. As a key core member of the Centre of Excellence (COE) team, this role collaborates with internal business units, project managers, and external consultants to deliver high-quality, consistent design solutions. The position involves organizing meetings, setting and tracking deliverables, and supporting operational efficiency and continuous improvement. Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills are essential, alongside the ability to adapt to changing priorities and foster proactive problem-solving within the team.
Role accountabilities:
- Integrated Design Coordination: Lead collaboration across Corporate Services and Technology stakeholders—including Workplace Planning, IT, Security, and Multimedia—to identify design impacts and drive integrated technical solutions.
- Design Standards & Compliance: Review interior design deliverables against global vision documents and guidelines, ensuring any deviations or necessary regional customizations are identified and addressed with the appropriate stakeholders.
- Stakeholder Liaison & Socialization: Act as the primary link between the COE and regional Capital Management teams to align project timelines and ensure all design sign-offs are secured from key stakeholders prior to execution.
- Strategic Workplace Strategy: Leverage global planning metrics, governance policies, and lessons learned to implement workplace strategies that drive consistency while optimizing project-specific delivery.
- Value Engineering & Cost Optimization: Proactively identify cost-saving opportunities and lead value engineering initiatives to improve project efficiency without compromising design intent or quality.
- Team Leadership & Development: Manage and mentor a reporting team, driving talent development, succession planning, and a culture of continuous improvement to enhance overall operational effectiveness.
- Operational Governance: Facilitate regular team meetings to cascade strategic objectives, troubleshoot operational challenges, and provide performance updates to COE Leadership to ensure alignment with global project goals.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture (required) as well as experience working within an investment bank or financial services industry strongly preferred.
- Minimum 10-14 years’ experience in Workplace Interior Architecture, Interior Design, or Commercial Design Management.
- Proven organizational skills, ability to prioritize to meet deadlines and provide high quality service to clients.
- Distils complex information to the essential for client decision-making. Capable of participating in discussions with internal clients on design, construction and space use concepts.
