
About this role
The Cost Accountant is responsible for developing, maintaining, and analyzing cost accounting data to support financial decision-making across the hospital. This role works extensively with CostFlex and/or other cost accounting systems to produce routine and ad hoc reports for hospital administration, directors, and department leadership. The position supports cost center–level analysis, service line profitability, budgeting, and operational efficiency initiatives.

Education Requirements:
- Validation of a High school diploma/GED required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Healthcare Administration preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum 2–4 years of cost accounting and financial analysis experience, preferably in a healthcare or hospital setting.
- Hands-on experience with healthcare cost accounting applications.
- Experience working with cost centers, allocations, and departmental financial reporting.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong understanding of healthcare finance, hospital cost structures, and reimbursement concepts.
- Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and Access; experience with financial reporting tools and ERP systems.
- Ability to analyze complex datasets and communicate findings clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
- High attention to detail with strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet reporting deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
