Senior Financial Accountant
DUTIES:
Work with various operational departments to develop and manage the annual capital budget, ensuring alignment with the company's strategic goals and objectives. Assist in prioritization of capital project selection and implementation. Work closely with various departments to gather project data and assess the feasibility and financial viability of proposed capital projects. Perform cost-benefit analysis, risk assessment, and sensitivity analysis to support decision-making. Calculate and analyze financial metrics such as NPV (Net Present Value), ROI (Return on Investment), and other relevant Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to assess the economic viability of capital projects. Provide insights and recommendations based on financial metric analyses to support investment decisions. Monitor and report on the actual vs. budgeted performance of capital projects and control the monthly and quarterly capital forecasting process. Develop and review Authorization for Expenditures (AFE) documents for a capital that totals approximately $100 million annually. Evaluate the financial and operational feasibility of AFE requests, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures. Collaborate with project managers to provide financial guidance, ensuring that projects are completed within budget. Prepare detailed financial reports and analysis on capital project performance, including variance analysis and recommendations for corrective actions. Collaborate with the finance team to assess the impact of capital projects on the company's financial statements. Provide regular updates to senior management on the status of capital projects, including financial risks and opportunities. Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, accounting standards, and internal controls in all capital project accounting processes. Identify and mitigate financial and implementation risks associated with capital projects, developing risk management strategies. Continuously review and enhance capital project processes to streamline and optimize efficiency. Implement best practices and technology solutions to improve data accuracy and reporting.
Qualifications
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree or the foreign equivalent in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or another closely related field, plus 5 years of progressively responsible experience in an accounting occupation. The required experience in an accounting occupation must include the following:
5 years of experience in capital project accounting or finance, capital budgeting, and Authorization for Expenditure (AFE) processes.
5 years of experience working with project management software (MS Project or Primavera).
5 years of experience performing data analysis and reporting Including:
- Generating monthly capital cost reports and collaborating with managers to track costs and analyze variances.
- Monitoring actual capital cash flow to budgets and forecasting and providing assistance to Project Managers.
- Preparing capital performance reports that outline monthly compliance with cost and schedule, and coordinating and participating in monthly capital performance meetings.
- Conducting timely and accurate completion of post-implementation reviews
5 years of experience working with capital project management and control methodologies, including:
- Schedule and cost management.
- Collaborating with Project Managers to develop Work Breakdown Structures.
- Maintaining consistent communication between all teams and disciplines.
- Contributing to Project Execution Plans.
