Job Description

Reporting to the Manager, Planning & Projects, Capital Finance this role provides analytical support within the Projects and Planning and Capital Development teams of the William Osler Health System. The successful candidate works closely with programs and other leaders in these areas to ensure the reporting of actual results is accurate and completed on a timely basis for several redevelopment and major renovation projects. They support month end close procedures and analyze actual results ensuring completeness and a high level of data integrity. The successful candidate will be a champion of process and controls which allows them to identify and deliver relevant financial reporting including budgeting, commitments, actuals and forecasts for large projects over several years.

 

• Provide timely, accurate and useful operating/management and financial data analysis for Capital Projects designated time frames (i.e. weekly, monthly) as well as ad hoc reports as requested by management
• Preparation and analysis of month end reporting including, but not limited to, internal and external capital project reports, posting of journal entries and analysis and commentary of variances month to month and actual to plan  
• Develop and enhance financial models, tools and templates to improve financial processes and deliver efficiencies and insight to the business
• Support functional leads and project managers in all capital financial review processes
• Responsible for the accurate preparation of financial/statistical/capital reports for the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care and other funding agencies 
• Support the overall month end and year-end financial close and audit procedures including posting of sub-ledgers and journal entry preparation combined with analysis of results for Capital Projects
• Prepare year end working papers and support the year end audit performed by external auditors 
• Research, propose and document policies and procedures to ensure a sound internal. control environment and compliance with changing regulatory and legislative requirements
• Assistance with ad hoc projects related to the finance department as required 
• Assist in other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• University degree in Business or Finance with a Professional Accounting designation (CPA, CA, CMA, CGA)
• 5 years of progressive accounting or financial analysis experience
• Highly motivated self-starter, customer focused team player
• Excellent analytical, interpersonal and written communication skills  
• Advanced knowledge of Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
• Meditech system experience is an asset
• Knowledge of capital redevelopment initiatives is an asset
• Proven ability to manage multiple and competing projects effectively while meeting deadlines and maintaining accuracy
• Experience working with all levels of Management 
• Strong financial reporting & modelling skills, knowledge of GAAP and MIS Guidelines
• Knowledge of Project Management and MOHLTC Capital Planning
• Knowledge of the Broader Public Sector Act and its regulations as it relates to the hospital sector
• Flexible, versatile and resilient
• Ability to build relationships and present complex financial information to non-finance stakeholders

Additional Information

Hours: Currently days, including weekends and statutory holidays (subject to change in accordance with operational requirements)

Hybrid: Roles that function remotely, but require essential, regular onsite weekly work.

Maximum: $126,886.50
