Job Description

Fairmont El San Juan Hotel Finance Manager directs the day-to-day operations of the Finance staff, assuring that a highly productive and well-trained staff is always maintained.  The Accounting Manager assures the accuracy, consistency, and timeliness of the financial reporting and Finance functions while providing information and assistance to the Senior Director of Finance and Assistant Director of Finance. 

 

  • Support the Payroll Master in accurate, timely payroll processing and reconciliation
  • Monitor daily labor costs versus forecast and budget, providing variance analysis
  • Lead weekly labor meetings with department heads to review labor utilization and productivity
  • Analyze labor trends, overtime, and staffing efficiency to provide actionable recommendations
  • Assist HR and Payroll Manager in maintaining accurate employee records and payroll compliance
  • Prepare and review month-end journal entries and accruals
  • Perform timely and accurate balance sheet reconciliations, including payroll-related accounts
  • Ensure all financial transactions are properly recorded, classified, and documented
  • Assist in inventory counts and reconciliation, ensuring accuracy of stock records
  • Prepare financial reports as required by management, including departmental and consolidated reports
  • Analyze financial data and provide insights for decision-making and cost control
  • Assist in preparation of budgets, forecasts, and labor cost planning
  • Lead internal and external audits, ensuring all finance and payroll documentation is audit-ready
  • Respond to audit queries and implement recommendations to strengthen controls
  • Ensure compliance with statutory regulations, accounting standards, and hotel policies
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting and finance staff

Qualifications

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS

  • University degree with appropriate specialization in Accounting required.
  • Superior skills in computer technology and applications including Microsoft Office
  • Superior leadership and coaching skills with a proven track record of developing a highly motivated, trained/cross trained group of progressive accounting professionals
  • Excellent administrative, interpersonal and organizational skills required
