Janicki Industries is an innovative, family-owned aerospace company located at the foot of the Cascades. We focus on engineering and manufacturing complex projects for companies in the aerospace, defense, and space industries. We are looking for a Network Administrator II to join our growing team.
This position is located on-site in Sedro-Woolley, Washington State
POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Network Administrator II maintains and supports the availability and integrity of Janicki’s network and communication systems serving 1600+ employees, including (but not limited to) routers, switches, wireless access points, servers, and client access devices consisting primarily of Cisco and HPE Juniper networking, Windows/Linux operating systems, and the Office 365 suite of applications.
The following essential job functions are performed as a Network Administrator II:
- Responsible for general daily network operations
- Configure, manage, and troubleshoot enterprise LAN/WAN infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, wireless systems, and VPNs
- Administer VLANs, ACLs, routing protocols (OSPF, BGP, etc.), and network segmentation in support of both IT and OT environments
- Support network operations for critical systems including CAD/CAM, ERP, MES, and Industrial Control Systems (ICS)
- Perform proactive network monitoring, troubleshooting, and tuning
- Collaborate with cybersecurity and compliance teams to implement controls aligned with NIST 800-171, DFARS, ITAR, and other standards
- Create and maintain detailed documentation of network topologies, equipment configurations, and change records
- Perform standardized hardware upgrades as dictated by OEM EoS/EoL and corporate lifecycle policies
- Coordinate downtime to complete standardized software upgrades as required by OEM best practices and to patch against known security vulnerabilities
- Travel to various company sites to evaluate connectivity as necessary
- Create and update network documentation and maintain licensing agreements
- Act as an escalation point for junior members of the network and help desk teams
- May mentor and train junior staff on network systems and operations
- Must work well under pressure, meeting and completing multiple deadlines. Shall, at all times, demonstrate cooperative behavior with colleagues and supervisors
- Must be at work on time and maintain good attendance. This is a condition of employment and is an essential function of the job
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Due to our ITAR and EAR regulations, applicants must be a US Citizen or of Legal Permanent Resident Status as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b (a) (3).
- This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). Janicki will assist with gaining this access once employed. Special Access Program or other Government Access Requirements are mandatory for this position and require that the candidate agrees to enter a Continuous Evaluation program.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in enterprise network administration and operations
- Associate’s degree in Information Technology or related field or equivalent professional experience required. Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Cisco CCNA or equivalent certification preferred. CompTIA Security+ preferred
- Must have excellent working knowledge of:
- Core networking protocols and services (ARP, VLAN, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, OSPF, SNMP etc.)
- Enterprise wired and wireless LAN/WLAN environments
- Network authentication and access control systems (Entra, Active Directory, RADIUS based NAC)
- Routing and switching configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting
- Firewall administration and security policy enforcement
- Administration of network monitoring tools such as Grafana, PRTG, SolarWinds, Wireshark, Zabbix
- Knowledge of the following specific platforms and operating systems is a plus:
- Cisco IOS-XE and NX-OS
- Juniper Junos OS
- Palo Alto Networks (Panorama/PANOS)
- Familiarity with ICS/SCADA/OT security best practices are preferred
- Experience administering Windows and Linux server environments preferred
- Experience supporting and administering Microsoft Azure/Entra environments preferred
- Must be willing to participate in week-long on-call rotation
- Must be accommodating and flexible while maintaining priorities
- Must be a self-starter, able to work autonomously with limited supervision, while complying with established IT administration procedures
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English, with a demonstrated customer-service mindset
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
- Salary range for this role is between $83,000 - $120,000, plus discretionary bonus, 401(k) matching, vacation, and health benefits. Employees can also receive additional pay for off-shifts. The range provided is Janicki’s estimate of the base compensation for this role. Actual amount offered will be based on job-related and non-discriminatory factors such as experience, location, education, training, skills, and abilities
