The Position

As a Business Controller at UNS, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the financial structure of our growing organization, driving both insight and efficiency. UNS is currently in the transition process of a new tool. In this position you are part of the change process, and you report to the top management on a monthly basis (CEO and CFO)

As a Business Controller, you are part of the Project Control Team (4 members) within the broader Finance Team (10 members). Reporting directly to the Business Control Manager, your role is key to the company’s strategic transformation from process-driven operations to insight-driven decision-making.

This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the creation of new financial and operational standards in an environment where processes are still evolving. Your insights will be instrumental in supporting UNS growth ambitions.

As a Business Controller, you oversee several projects, entities performance/P&L and serve as the point of contact for project developments from initiation to completion. Topics addressed in this process include project progress, potential risks and opportunities, financial performance, and occasionally more administrative subjects such as contracts, invoice schedules, and sales invoices. As a Business Controller, you understand the story behind the financial reports. You work closely with other financial functions, cluster directors, the business (architects), legal, finance & control and business development.

Lastly, you are part of specific project teams within the company, your input is required in setting up new systems, and you take ownership of (financial) project-related matters. You are expected to work independently and report to the Senior Business Controller and/or CFO.

Requirements

Project Oversight:

  • Manage of projects and P&L’s across of studios/entities, serving as the financial point of contact from initiation to completion.

  • Monitor project progress, assess risks and opportunities, and ensure financial performance aligns with objectives.

Process Development:

  • Initiate and implement new procedures and standards to optimize project finance processes.

  • Drive automation and standardization across your assigned projects.

Collaboration:

  • Work closely with cluster directors, architects, and business development teams to align project goals with financial insights.

  • Collaborate with the financial control team to ensure accurate reporting and analysis.

Reporting & Analysis:

  • In charge of the budget process to then provide updates vs forecasts on a monthly basis to stakeholders.

  • Finally, you continuously align the correct information with the financial control team and the business.

The Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • Proven experience in financial control, project management, or business analysis (architecture or design industry experience is a plus).

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.

  • Experience with process improvement, standardization, and automation.

  • Strong excel and reporting skills is a must.

  • Proficiency in financial software and ERP systems.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively across teams.

  • Fluent in English & Dutch.
