ABOUT THE JOB
The Senior Manager / Manager, Store Planning & Design will oversee the end-to-end execution of RADAR’s store planning, architectural validation, and design workflows, while owning the evolution of planning tooling, design accuracy, and scalability through targeted R&D initiatives.
You’ll lead a team responsible for translating construction documents, store layouts, and as-built conditions into precise, install-ready sensor plans using 2D and 3D modeling, LIDAR scans, and internal planning systems. In parallel, you will drive continuous improvement of planning methods, tools, and integrations to reduce install complexity, improve compliance, and enable first-time-right deployments at a global scale.
You’ll partner closely with Deployment Operations, Engineering, Solutions, Customer Operations, Support, and external integrators to ensure designs are accurate, executable, standardized, and increasingly automated as RADAR grows.
This role blends architectural and spatial design expertise with product-like ownership of tooling, process innovation, and operational feedback loops, maintaining a tight pulse on design quality, install efficiency, and global scalability.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop the Store Planning & Design team; own workload prioritization, quality reviews, and delivery SLAs.
- Own end-to-end store planning: intake → architectural review → 2D/3D modeling → install-ready site plans and packages.
- Ensure accurate, repeatable sensor designs by translating CDs/RCPs/as-builts into executable plans (ceilings, obstructions, fixtures, compliance).
- Drive planning R&D: improve accuracy, scalability, and automation through new methods, standards, and internal tooling.
- Own third-party tooling and integrations (LIDAR/BIM/compliance platforms) and vendor relationships to improve design precision and local code alignment.
- Build a structured field feedback loop with installers/integrators; convert install learnings into better plans that reduce rework, revisits, and cost.
- Partner with Engineering/Product/Deployment Ops to integrate systems, strengthen workflows, and improve planning-to-install handoffs.
- Define and track metrics (first-time-right, plan accuracy, turnaround time, deviation rate) and continuously improve performance.
ABOUT YOU
Required:
- 7+ years of experience in retail architecture, store planning, interior architecture, or related design fields.
- 3+ years of people management or team leadership experience.
- Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings, RCPs, sections, and elevations.
- Hands-on experience with 3D modeling and spatial planning for physical environments.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, Rhino, or equivalent tools.
- Experience working with LIDAR scans, point clouds, or as-built validation workflows.
- Experience leveraging GIS, spatial data, or geospatial tools to inform site planning, deployment strategy, or physical environment analysis. (i.e. ArcGIS, QGIS, or similar)
- Demonstrated ability to improve processes, tools, or systems—not just execute within them.
- Strong understanding of retail store environments, fixtures, ceilings, and construction constraints.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills; able to translate technical detail into actionable guidance.
- Comfortable operating in fast-paced, evolving environments with cross-functional stakeholders.
Preferred:
- Experience with NavVis IVION, Trimble, or similar LIDAR scanning platforms.
- Experience supporting large multi-site retail rollouts or enterprise deployments.
- Familiarity with hardware installations, low-voltage systems, or retail technology.
- Exposure to RFID, sensors, cameras, or IoT hardware ecosystems.
- Experience evaluating or integrating third-party tools and vendors.
- Experience working across global store formats and local code/regulatory constraints.
WHAT YOU'LL DO

- Learn RADAR’s mission, technology stack, and deployment model.
- Develop deep understanding of current planning workflows, tools, and standards.
- Review design accuracy, install feedback, and existing improvement opportunities.
- Build relationships with Deployment, Engineering, and field teams.
- Identify early R&D and tooling opportunities.
In your first 60 days, you will:
- Begin owning planning execution and improvement initiatives.
- Partner with Engineering on initial tooling or process enhancements.
- Establish structured feedback loops with installation teams.
- Publish or refine planning standards and validation processes.
- Define baseline metrics for accuracy, efficiency, and scalability
In your first 90 days, you will:
- Fully own store planning, design, and planning R&D execution.
- Deliver a roadmap for planning tool improvements and integrations.
- Implement measurable improvements to design accuracy and install efficiency.
- Strengthen team coaching, quality reviews, and governance.
- Support readiness for new customers, regions, and store formats.
