The Senior Software Engineer designs, codes, and maintains software applications to meet business and platform requirements. This role delivers technical solutions and hands-on development expertise within a team environment. The Senior Software Engineer contributes to platform administration, applies strong technical knowledge within the Appian domain, and contributes to code development that accelerates delivery of impactful initiatives in a HIPAA-regulated environment.

  • Collaborates on the design and development of software solutions using Appian low-code capabilities, including process models, SAIL interfaces, record types, expression rules, and reusable components.

  • Participates in the configuration and optimization of the Appian platform, addressing technical issues as needed.

  • Develops and maintains integrations between Appian and other systems using RESTful services, APIs, and enterprise data sources.

  • Supports the delivery of workflow and case management solutions based on Appian for various business initiatives.

  • Assists in evaluating and implementing Appian platform features and upgrades to enhance reliability and efficiency.

  • Promotes Appian best practices and helps ensure alignment with established engineering standards.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field

  • 5+ years' substantial, hands-on experience developing with Appian.

  • Experience building workflow-driven and case-based applications in medium-to-large scale environments.

  • Good understanding of platform security, integrations, and data access patterns.

  • Exposure to regulated environments; strong discipline around security, compliance, auditability, and reliability.

  • Hands-on experience with Web API development, massaging queues (i.e. Kafka) and other Appian integration capabilities.

  • Familiarity with Appian SAIL, Records, Data Fabric, and platform deployment processes.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree

  • Appian Certified Developer or equivalent platform certification.

  • Experience with AI modeling and use of Appian AI features.

  • Experienced delivery utilizing object-oriented programming languages.

  • Development or administration experience with multiple data management technologies (SQL, Relational and Cloud Databases, Databricks, etc.)

WAH requirements

  • WAH requirements: Must have the ability to provide a high-speed DSL or cable modem for a home office. Associates or contractors who live and work from home in the state of California will be provided payment for their internet expense.

  • A minimum standard speed for optimal performance of 25x10 (25mpbs download x 10mpbs upload) is required.  

  • Satellite and Wireless Internet service is NOT allowed for this role.

  • A dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information.

Travel: While this is a remote position, occasional travel to Humana's offices for training or meetings may be required.

Pay Range

The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.


 

$106,900 - $147,000 per year


 

This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
