Role Summary
The Semiconductor Process Engineering Manager is responsible for leading process engineering teams supporting Diffusion, Wet Etch, and CMP modules in a high‑volume manufacturing environment. This role ensures safe, stable, and capable processes that meet yield, quality, cost, and cycle‑time targets, while enabling technology transfers and continuous process improvements.
The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise with strong people leadership and cross‑functional collaboration skills.
Key Responsibilities
Technical & Process Leadership
- Own end‑to‑end process health, performance, and roadmap for Diffusion, Wet Etch, and CMP modules
- Ensure processes meet yield, defectivity, reliability, and cost of ownership (CoO) targets
- Lead process characterisation, optimisation, SPC, and control methodology improvements
- Drive root cause analysis and corrective action for process excursions and yield loss events
- Support new product introductions (NPI), technology transfers, and node transitions
- Partner with Equipment Engineering to define tool qualifications, process windows, and hardware improvements
People & Team Management
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of process engineers and technicians
- Set clear goals, performance expectations, and development plans
- Build technical depth and succession planning within the process engineering organization
- Promote a strong safety culture and adherence to EHS standards
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Manufacturing, Yield Engineering, Device Engineering, Integration, Quality, and Supply Chain teams
- Interface with external vendors and technology partners on process and material improvements
- Present process status, risks, and improvements to fab and senior leadership
Continuous Improvement & Strategy
- Identify and drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies
- Develop medium‑ and long‑term process roadmaps aligned with business and technology strategies
Implement best‑in‑class practices for advanced process control (APC) and statistical process monitoring.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Physics, or a related field
- 5+ years of semiconductor process engineering experience, with 2+ years in a leadership or management role
- Hands‑on expertise in one or more of the following:
- Diffusion (oxidation, LPCVD, implant anneal)
- Wet Etch (single wafer, batch, chemical controls, defect reduction)
- CMP (planarity control, consumables optimization, defectivity reduction)
- Strong understanding of semiconductor process integration and yield impacts
- Proven experience driving process improvements in a high‑volume manufacturing fab
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s or PhD in a relevant engineering discipline
- Experience supporting advanced technology nodes or specialty device platforms
- Familiarity with APC systems, SPC tools, FMEA, DOE, and data analytics
- Experience working with major semiconductor equipment suppliers
