The Catholic Archdiocese of Melbourne (CAM) is seeking a Finance Transactions Team Leader who brings passion for accuracy, efficiency, and exceptional service.

In this role, you’ll lead and support our Finance Transactions team to deliver timely, high‑quality processing across accounts payable, accounts receivable, banking, and month‑end readiness, all while staying actively involved in day‑to‑day transactional delivery.

What You’ll Do

  • Manage the day-to-day delivery of transactional finance activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, banking, and related reconciliations.
  • Lead, supervise, and develop the finance transactions team, promoting a culture of accuracy, accountability, continuous improvement, and service excellence.
  • Maintain, review, and continuously improve documented procedures, workflows, and controls for all transactional finance processes.
  • Support the Senior Financial Accountant in the preparation of month-end journals, reconciliations, and close processes.
  • Assist with year-end financial processes and external audit requirements, including preparation of supporting documentation and explanations.
  • Partner closely with operational teams across CAM to ensure transactions align with funding requirements, compliance obligations, and organisational policies.
  • Ensure integrity and compliance across all financial transaction streams.

What You’ll Bring

  • Relevant qualification in accounting, finance, or a related discipline, or equivalent demonstrated experience.
  • Several years of experience in a transactional finance or accounting role, including leadership or supervisory responsibilities.
  • Proven experience working with ERP systems, ideally Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.
  • Ability to lead, support, and motivate a team in a fast‑paced environment.
  • A proactive approach with the confidence to identify opportunities and drive positive change.
  • Experience in the not‑for‑profit sector, including understanding of governance, compliance, and stewardship principles related to grants, donors, and funding requirements (desirable).
