About the Role

Odds Factory is our state of the art pre-match and in-play sports betting technology allowing us to offer more betting opportunities, on more sports, as events unfold in real-time. Our advanced cloud-based technology simulates millions of potential outcomes to generate odds, all in the blink of an eye, and our technology team is an industry leader in the application of this platform, creating unique betting experiences.

As a Technical Lead in the Odds Factory domain, you will support the Principal Engineer and the overall engineering department in leading and guiding a cross-functional development team and driving quality product development through delivery expertise & development, leadership, maintenance, and operational support of the systems built within PointsBet teams.

Leveraging your thought leadership skills, you'll engage, educate and enable your team and other parts of the engineering department with shaping the ways we work. You will be part of and help to promote a diverse and agile team, building & operating world-class services to support business-critical systems. This role has an important part as a people leader where you will be driving high employee engagement and coaching and mentoring of team members.

Role Responsibilities

  • Provide all necessary support to the Scrum team(s) whenever possible, leading by example rather than process
  • Plan, schedule, and facilitate solution design and estimation sessions
  • Provide day‐to‐day thought leadership and technical guidance
  • Own team adherence to team objectives including design, coding practices, quality assurance, continuous integration, and continuous delivery processes to ensure solutions are fit for purpose
  • Manage business expectations and project delivery times, ensure the team meets timelines and delivery commitments made, escalating issues early
  • Communicate any risks associated with projects being progressed by the team
  • Own the team’s development work from planning through to deployment
  • Actively contribute to relevant internal technical forums, respectfully providing opinions and suggestions
  • Translate product owner expectations into fully developed functionality that meets functional and non‐functional requirements
  • Maintain and support PointsBet’s websites and back-office systems
  • Mentor and foster growth in Developers both inside and outside your team
  • Contribute to the broader business through product stakeholder discussions
  • Propose solutions to business problems or features
  • Identify and present the technical trade‐offs and risks of different development approaches in a meaningful way
  • Ensure that a variety of concerns are taken into consideration when designing technical solutions including performance, scalability, availability, and security
  • Contribute to team members career goals and objectives, including performance review discussions.
  • Lead knowledge sharing sessions and encourage others to share knowledge and expertise
  • Contribute to talent acquisition and hiring

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • • Experience in a leadership role, developing and supporting a cross functional team of 3+ members
  • Extensive experience working across technology teams/environments
  • Experience in an agile, large-scale, commercial environment architecting / designing and building service-oriented applications
  • Experience with managing communications and setting expectations with stakeholders
  • Strong collaboration skills
