General Summary

The Materials Quality Control Technician II is responsible for sampling, testing, and inspecting construction materials in both laboratory and field settings to ensure compliance with project specifications, owner requirements, and applicable Canadian regulatory standards. This role is expanded to include WorkSafeBC Occupational First Aid Level 3 responsibilities, Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) duties, mine rescue support, and environmental compliance monitoring for the Bamberton Quarry.

Essential Job Accountabilities
1. Perform sampling and testing of construction materials (soil, aggregate, HMA, PCC) to verify compliance.
2. Prepare and communicate testing and inspection results to supervisors and plant personnel to ensure quality control standards are satisfied and necessary process changes are implemented .
3. Follow the requirements for materials quality outlined in the company management system (GMS) and the Construction Materials Playbook to ensure compliance and maintain high standards.
4. Participate in and promote company safety procedures to ensure a safe working environment and compliance with safety regulations.
5. Conduct safety inspections, audits, and support incident investigations.
6. Provide WorkSafeBC OFA Level 3 first aid coverage.
7. Maintain first aid facilities and documentation.
8. Participate and assist in environmental monitoring.

Education
•    Engineering Technology diploma preferred.
•    ASTTBC registration or Canadian equivalent is an asset.

Work Experience
•    Minimum 3+ years of related experience.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
•    Understanding of specifications and testing of construction materials related to concrete and asphalt aggregates 
•    Understanding of WorkSafeBC regulations
•    Strong communication skills.
•    Basic Microsoft Excel proficiency.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, sit and use hands to operate a computer keyboard. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus. Base Salary Range: 

$47,241.54 - $70,863.00

Pay may vary based upon relevant experience, skills, location, and education among other factors.
