Job Description
Administrative Faculty, Non Tenure Track, Benefits Eligible.
Position Overview
The Learning Management System Administrator is an essential member of the Instructional Innovation Team and is responsible for operational oversight of the College Learning Management System (LMS) and in supporting outstanding online education at Western Nevada College. The LMS Administrator brings innovation and creativity combined with technical expertise and a strong awareness of user experience to the role. The scope of work includes operations management, performance monitoring, service integrations, upgrades, migrations, communication, planning and evaluation of emerging technologies.
Job Duties
Technical Support for Students and Faculty
Provides the main point of contact for all issues relevant to the LMS.
Respond to day-to-day problems with logins and problems that may arise with student and faculty accounts,
Provide front-end user and technical support for all users
Troubleshoots and resolves Tier 2 issues relating to system functionality and integrated services.
Manages the LMS, including installing, maintaining, and supporting all integrations in accordance with WNC policies.
Providing tier support to faculty integrating applications into the LMS and trouble-shooting any resulting problems.
Monitors LMS and determines if issues are Peoplesoft related and rely information to Computing Services.
Consults regularly with stakeholders to ensure needs are being met effectively.
Collaborates with academic faculty in making course content fully functional in the LMS. Ensures that classes function and run effectively and that faculty are able to effectively use the embedded tools in the LMS.
Provides support for integration of OERs into course shells.
Troubleshoots and responds to emergency issues and provides on-call support during busy periods of the year.
Is available outside of working hours to resolve emergency issue promptly.
Technical Configuration of LMS Application
Ensures proper configuration, monitoring and documentation are in place to ensure outstanding service to online learners and faculty.
Provides leadership in the planning and delivery of projects in the LMS.
Communication and Training
Communicates effectively with vendors as needed.
Provides training to users as needed.
Responds to help requests in a timely and positive manner.
Effectively organizes and manages several projects with concurrent, time-sensitive deadlines.
Writes timely and relevant reports to support data informed decisions at all College management levels.
Security
Adheres to FERPA guidelines related to sensitive data.
Reviews user access privileges in accordance with WNC policies.
Other Duties as Assigned
Provides leadership and supervision to part-time and student workers as needed.
Serves on College committees as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree and two years of related professional experience.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted for the Bachelor's degree (i.e., AA+3 or 4 yrs related professional experience).
Preferred Qualifications
Experience communicating with a diverse range of stakeholders and customers with varying levels of technical experience.
Canvas LMS experience preferred
Project management experience
Experience training others in technical applications
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to work independently with limited supervision as well as a member of a team.
Strong communication, analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills.
Must exhibit attention to detail and have excellent time and project management skills.
Ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing operating systems and technological environments.
Possesses outstanding customer service instincts.
Experience communicating technical information to non-technical end users.
Ability to comfortably move between in person and remote environments.
Minimum Starting Salary Information:
This position is at a salary grade B. The minimum of the placement range is $60,644.54. The selected candidate will be placed at or above the minimum based on education and experience. WNC's placement range falls within the NSHE salary schedule: NSHE ADMINISTRATIVE SALARY SCHEDULE

All faculty and professional staff working at least half-time equivalent must participate in the NSHE Faculty Retirement Plan Alternative (RPA) as a condition of employment. The current contribution rate is 19.25%. Your contribution is matched by the College at 19.25%.

Faculty and staff who have previously participated in the Public Employees’ Retirement System of Nevada (PERS) may be required to continue participation in PERS.
The Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) does not participate in the federal Social Security System but does contribute to the federal Medicare program. This means that while you are employed by NSHE neither you nor NSHE contribute to Social Security and you do not earn a Social Security benefit.
