About the Opportunity
Senior Site Reliability Engineers at Dayforce play a key role in shaping how reliability, scalability, and operational excellence are delivered across our platforms. Working at the intersection of software engineering and operations, you’ll help drive improvements that enable teams to ship faster while maintaining resilient, highly available systems.
You’ll join Dayforce’s Site Reliability Engineering team, where we apply established SRE principles and engagement models to support business-critical products. As a senior member of the team, you’ll take ownership of reliability initiatives, contribute to platform-wide tooling, and help influence how SRE practices are adopted across engineering.
This role combines hands-on engineering with technical leadership—designing automation, reducing toil, improving observability, and leading incident response to ensure long-term system health.
For the first two months, this role will align with North American working hours to support onboarding and knowledge transfer. After this period, you’ll move to standard UK working hours.
What you’ll get to do
• Build a deep understanding of Dayforce’s cloud infrastructure and application ecosystem.
• Lead the onboarding of new services into the SRE operating model, ensuring reliability standards are met.
• Identify, propose, and deliver reliability initiatives that improve system resilience and reduce operational toil.
• Take a leading role in incident response, including coordination, root cause analysis, and follow-up remediation.
• Design, create, and maintain high-quality runbooks and reusable operational components.
• Contribute to and help shape our inner-source SRE repositories and shared tooling.
• Partner closely with engineering, product, and operations teams across the business.
• Participate in a shared PagerDuty on-call rotation, contributing to continuous improvement of on-call practices.
Skills and Experience we Value
• Strong experience in Site Reliability Engineering, Infrastructure, or Software Engineering roles (typically 4+ years).
• Proven ability to identify and resolve performance, scalability, and reliability issues in production systems.
• Experience working with cloud platforms (Azure preferred).
• Solid experience with observability and APM tools, including tuning and effective usage.
• Proficiency in at least one object-oriented programming language (C# or Java preferred).
• Experience with scripting languages such as Python or PowerShell.
• Experience working with relational databases and query languages (MSSQL/T-SQL or PostgreSQL/PL-SQL).
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across teams.
• Experience building or contributing to automation and auto-remediation tooling.
• A track record of delivering high-quality solutions in complex environments
What would make you really stand out:
• Experience with Terraform.
• Familiarity with containerisation and Kubernetes.
• Knowledge of chaos engineering or resilience testing principles.
