Meet The Team:
The 802.15.4 team in Hyderabad is an essential part of Silicon Labs’ global engineering organization, widely recognized for innovation in low‑power wireless technologies. You’ll collaborate with world‑class engineers to solve meaningful challenges in connectivity, performance, and security—helping shape the next generation of IoT devices. Our hardware portfolio supports both established and emerging technologies across Thread, Zigbee, and multiprotocol wireless solutions. The team plays a critical role in driving Silicon Labs’ vision for secure, scalable, and interoperable IoT platforms that enable customers to build reliable, future‑ready connected products.
The Role:
Silicon Labs is seeking an empathetic and technically strong Software Engineering Manager to lead our 802.15.4 embedded wireless networking team in Hyderabad. You will guide a small local team as part of a larger global team of engineers building next‑generation wireless networking solutions for resource‑constrained embedded devices. This role blends hands-on embedded development with engineering leadership, driving high technical standards, strong collaboration, and continuous improvement across the team.
What You’ll Do
- Contribute hands-on to embedded feature development and maintenance across our hardware product portfolio
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team building applications for resource-constrained embedded systems
- Serve as a subject matter expert across software design, integration, testing, and optimization of wireless networking protocols
- Raise the technical, security, and quality bar through architecture reviews, design reviews, and code reviews
- Collaborate closely with global engineering, program management, and product teams to ensure aligned priorities and clear communication
- Plan and manage work to software release milestones to deliver bug fixes and new features on schedule
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, supported by metrics and data-driven decisions
- Partner with software quality teams to define test plans and ensure high-quality releases
- Coordinate with Engineering Management and Project Management to manage team commitments and execution
- Work with Applications Engineers to understand customer use cases, diagnose issues, and drive effective solutions
- Improve engineering processes across planning, execution, and daily team operations
What You Bring
- Desire to balance hands-on embedded development with leading and supporting a growing technical team
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience collaborating with engineering teams across multiple geographic locations
- Proven success implementing engineering processes that emphasize quality, security, and maintainability
- Extensive experience developing with wireless microcontrollers in real-world applications
- 10+ years of experience in embedded engineering
- 5+ years writing unit, integration, and system-level tests
- 3+ years leading software engineering teams
Extras Considered a Plus
- Advanced experience with 802.15.4 and/or Bluetooth applications
- Advanced experience with CI/CD systems such as Jenkins or GitHub Actions
- Healthy curiosity and experience of using AI tools to support daily development and velocity improvements
