About this role
In today's fast-paced world, businesses need real-time insights more than ever. Yet, the complexity poses significant challenges as it combines Big Data and Real Time.
The GoldenGate Data Fabric team, with its extensive experience, is building a next-generation streaming analytics platform that will set a new standard in the industry. Our mission is to revolutionize how data professionals manage and interact with data sets.
This next-gen Platform will allow the building of data pipelines and data transformation with zero coding including AI native interfaces.
It will support modern data architectures such as Lakehouse, Data Mesh, and Data Fabric. It will integrate with leading technologies including Kafka, Apache Flink, Spark/Spark Streaming, Beam, and open table/file formats such as Iceberg, Delta Lake, Hudi, and Parquet.
This is a dynamic, fast-moving environment with challenges spanning both the big data ecosystem and real-time streaming systems. We’re looking for engineers who can learn new technologies quickly, thrive amid ambiguity, and deliver high-quality software.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement key components of a next-generation streaming analytics and data pipeline platform.
- Architect and develop high-quality, scalable microservices (primarily in Java), from design through production.
- Debug complex issues across distributed systems, including performance, concurrency, and reliability problems.
- Drive engineering best practices: extensible design, code quality, testing, and operational readiness.
- Collaborate across teams to deliver features on time.
- Lead technical discussions and mentor junior engineers, tailoring guidance to their skill level.
- Contribute to iterative development in an environment where requirements can evolve— including revisiting and refactoring prior designs when needed.
Required Qualifications
- BS or MS in Computer Science or a related technical field involving substantial coding, or equivalent practical experience.
- 10+ years of overall software development experience.
- Strong fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, and extensible system design.
- Strong experience building microservices using Java frameworks.
- Working knowledge of big data and real-time streaming technologies (e.g., Kafka, Flink, Spark/Spark Streaming, Iceberg).
- Working knowledge of databases, including SQL and NoSQL systems.
- Self-motivated, fast learner, strong problem-solving skills, and collaborative team member.
- Demonstrated first-principles thinking and curiosity balanced with business delivery.
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools/coding agents to improve productivity while maintaining quality, security, and maintainability.
- Experience working in a startup environment is desirable.
Demonstrated Abilities
- Proven ability to deliver in fast-paced environments and adapt to evolving requirements.
- Ability to quickly understand and contribute to an existing codebase.
- Comfort working through ambiguity and making sound technical decisions with incomplete information.
- Experience guiding junior engineers through design, implementation, and debugging.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience processing, filtering, and presenting very large datasets (millions to billions of rows).
- Experience designing and operating distributed, multi-tier systems.
- Strong knowledge of several of the following: Spark, Spark Streaming, Flink, Beam, Delta Lake, Iceberg, Hudi, Parquet, Kafka.
- Experience designing and implementing data pipelines and transformation systems.
- Familiarity with Data Mesh and Data Fabric concepts.
- Nice to have: Experience building cloud services on OCI, AWS, or Azure.
