Looking to make an impact? Join our Performance and Planning Team as an Business Intelligence Assistant and turn data into actionable insights. 

The Scottish Public Pensions Agency (SPPA) is an Agency of the Scottish Government.  Our principal role is to administer the pensions for employees in the National Health Service, Teachers’, Police and Fire-fighters’ pension schemes in Scotland. The Agency administers these public service pension schemes on behalf of Scottish Ministers with an annual pension spend to over 200,000 pensioners of more than £2.5 billion.

You will report to the Performance Analyst, providing support with development and maintenance of performance reports and data gathering to ensure the SPPA delivers clear and concise insights in a timely manner. 

Responsibilities
  • Support the Performance Analysts with performance reporting including the production of the daily, weekly and monthly MI reports, preparing reporting packs for Senior Management and the Pension Boards, understanding stakeholder needs and executing data requests.
  • Logging and analysing recommendations and good practice from a range of information. Assist Performance Analysts with the implementation of the data management strategy using expertise and knowledge to make recommendations to ensure best practices are implemented while maintaining data security.
  • Prepare analysis of the outcomes from reviews drawing out themes, messages and conclusions.  
  • Support effective engagement with a range of stakeholders, developing agendas and notes, analysing evidence to support discussion and presenting findings from Continuous Improvement work.  Engage with stakeholders across the organisation to gather and understand requirements to identify opportunities to deliver value by leveraging data while managing expectations and communicating technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Providing operational Management Information to facilitate internal discussions to identify recommendations for future improvement priorities.
  • Responsible for producing, updating and maintaining reports to a high standard to ensure accuracy and aid decision making across the agency at all levels including the Executive Team.
  • Undertake the analysis of data to identify solutions to problems and decide the best format or implementation for stakeholders needs, escalating more complex queries where required.

Working Pattern

Our standard hours are 35 hours per week.  We offer a range of flexible and hybrid working options, with two days minimum working on site at SPPA. If you have specific questions about the role you are applying for,  please contact us.

Security Checks

Successful candidates must complete the Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS), before they can be appointed. BPSS is comprised of four main pre-employment checks – Identity, Right to work, Employment History and a Criminal Record check (unspent convictions).
