We are seeking a Financial Accountant to join our Finance team, reporting to the Finance Manager. This role plays a key part in ensuring high-quality financial reporting, strong governance, and robust accounting practices that support the organisation to operate efficiently and effectively.
You will be responsible for end-to-end financial accounting across assigned entities, including monthly and year-end reporting, reconciliations, taxation compliance, and audit support, while contributing to continuous improvement of systems and processes.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare accurate monthly and year-end financial statements, including variance analysis
- Maintain balance sheet reconciliations, fixed asset registers, and depreciation schedules in line with IRD requirements
- Support budgeting, cashflow forecasting, and financial analysis across assigned entities
- Prepare and lodge taxation returns (GST, provisional tax, FBT, DWT) and ensure statutory compliance
- Assist with annual audits, IFRS16 compliance, and leased asset management
- Process journals, manage bank reconciliations, and maintain accurate accounting records
- Prepare ad-hoc financial and management reports as required
- Support internal controls, governance reporting, and continuous improvement of finance systems and processes

You will need to have:
- Bachelor of Commerce or equivalent qualification
- 2–5 years’ experience in a Financial Accountant role
- Strong understanding of P&L, balance sheets, and financial statements
- Excellent Excel skills and strong attention to detail
- Confident written and verbal English communication skills
- Well-developed digital literacy
- Legal right to work in New Zealand
Highly desirable:
- CA / CPA (or equivalent) qualification
- Experience working across multiple entities
