Kia ora!  We’re looking for a new Senior Data Engineer to join our Data & Analytics team based in Newmarket, Auckland.

As a Senior Data Engineer, you’ll play a key role in Heartland’s journey to continue to evolve our data infrastructure and analytics. You’ll manage the development of ELT process using SnowFlake technologies. You’ll be responsible for building data products which involve architecture, design, build, test and support data integration projects.

You’ll understand your stakeholders’ requests and turn data into valuable insights to help make quality business decisions.

You’re a likely an experienced Data Engineer who is ready to take a step up into a senior role. You have a winning track record of building high performing data and analytical solutions that transform, integrate and meet various data demands from business. You thrive in a fast paced, rapidly changing environment, and are ready to tackle any challenge.

A great communicator, you’re a pro with:

  • Solid background of SQL and experience working with relational databases, query authoring (SQL), and familiarity with a variety of databases.
  • Proficiency of DBT, Python, Snowflake, Azure Data Factory (ADF), and Microsoft Fabric (bonus but not required).
  • Experience performing root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes to answer specific business questions and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced agile environment with tight deadlines.
  • A tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Experience in data modelling techniques.
  • Exposure to visualisation and dashboarding tools such as Power BI.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
