Purpose of the role

To  lead and manage engineering teams, providing technical guidance, mentorship, and support to ensure the delivery of high-quality software solutions, driving technical excellence, fostering a culture of innovation, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to align technical decisions with business objectives. 

Accountabilities

  • Lead engineering teams effectively, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture to achieve project goals and meet organizational objectives.
  • Oversee timelines, team allocation, risk management and task prioritization to ensure the successful delivery of solutions within scope, time, and budget.
  • Mentor and support team members' professional growth, conduct performance reviews, provide actionable feedback, and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Evaluation and enhancement of engineering processes, tools, and methodologies to increase efficiency, streamline workflows, and optimize team productivity.
  • Collaboration with business partners, product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions and ensure a cohesive approach to product development.
  • Enforcement of technology standards, facilitate peer reviews, and implement robust testing practices to ensure the delivery of high-quality solutions.

Join us as a AI Solution Architect at Barclays. You will be working as Solution Architect with a strong track record in AI/ML, GenAI & enterprise architecture. This role is ideal for a senior professional who can design and deliver enterprise grade GenAI Agentic AI solutions, lead and drive innovation across cloud, On-premises and hybrid environments. You will be technical owner for GenAI driven initiatives ensuring successful delivery of scalable and production ready AI/ML applications while aligning with enterprise business needs.

To be successful as AI Solution Architect you should have experience with: 

  • Define end‑to‑end architecture for GenAI, Agentic AI and LLM‑powered platforms across the enterprise.
  • Establish architectural patterns for RAG pipelines, LLM inference, multi‑agent orchestration, tool‑use frameworks and decision engines.
  • Create architecture blueprints for AWS Bedrock, SageMaker, Lambda, and enterprise‑approved AI infrastructure.
  • Lead design of model evaluation, safety tuning, AI ethics, risk standard, Responsible AI, guardrails and enterprise data governance frameworks.
  • Drive technical decision-making across infrastructure, API, microservices, databases and AI platforms.
  • Ensure successful deployment and scaling of AI solutions across on-premise, cloud and hybrid architecture.
  • Work closely with product managers, engineers and UX teams to embed AI capabilities into business workflows.
  • Track emerging trends in LLMs, GenAI frameworks, autonomous agents and knowledge systems.
  • Deep understanding of Large Language Models (GPT‑class, Claude‑class, etc.), RAG architectures & vector DBs & Agentic AI frameworks (tool‑calling, planners, LangGraph‑style architectures).
  • Strong hands‑on architectural experience with AWS Bedrock, SageMaker, Lambda and event‑driven cloud patterns.
  • Proven experience integrating AI into enterprise systems, APIs, microservices and workflow engines.
  • Experience with Database technologies like SQL, NoSQL and vector databases (e.g., DynamoDB, PGVector, CromaDB, FAISS etc.)
  • Proficiency with developing solutions on cloud platform preferably AWS platform.
  • Good Architecture experience with large-scale AI/ML systems.
  • Experience designing agentic decision systems, knowledge platforms or autonomous workflow engines.

Some other highly valued skills may include:

  • Professional experience in financial services and technology firms.
  • Knowledge of REST APIs, JSON/XML, CI/CD tools (Jenkins), and cloud-native architectures.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology or Engineering is required.
  • Mentor engineering teams and contribute to architecture guilds, AI communities and enterprise AI accelerators.
