Oracle Database Administrator (5–7 Years Experience)

 

 

Position Summary

 

We are seeking a skilled Oracle Database Administrator with 5–7 years of hands-on experience in administering, tuning, and supporting Oracle databases in enterprise environments. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Oracle 19c and above, experience working with Oracle Exadata platforms, and exposure to Oracle APEX application environments. This role involves ensuring database performance, availability, security, and providing production support for mission-critical systems.

 

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Install, configure, patch, and upgrade Oracle Database versions (19c and above) in multi-environment landscapes.
  • Perform database administration tasks including backup/recovery, cloning, refreshes, monitoring, and capacity planning.
  • Manage and troubleshoot performance issues using AWR, ASH, ADDM, OEM, and other diagnostic tools.
  • Support Oracle Exadata database machine environment monitoring storage cells, compute nodes, Flash Cache, and Exadata-specific features.
  • Implement and maintain RMAN backup and recovery strategies for high availability and disaster recovery setups.
  • Support and troubleshoot Oracle APEX environments, including schema setups, application deployments, and performance tuning.
  • Collaborate with development teams on SQL tuning, schema design, indexing strategies, and release deployments.
  • Ensure compliance with security standards, perform user/role management, and ensure data protection & encryption policies.
  • Participate in 24x7 on-call rotation for production support and incident management.
  • Document procedures, configurations, and operational runbooks.

 

 

Required Qualifications

 

  • 5–7 years of experience as an Oracle DBA in a production environment.
  • Strong experience in Oracle Database versions 12c/19c administration.
  • Solid understanding of Oracle architecture, memory structures, backup/recovery, datapump, and database security.
  • Experience with RMAN, OEM Cloud Control, and Linux-based database administration.
  • Hands-on experience with performance tuning (SQL, instance, I/O) and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with high availability and disaster recovery technologies such as Data Guard and RAC.
  • Proficiency with scripting (Shell, Python, or SQL*Plus) for automation.

 

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

  • Experience working with Oracle Exadata platforms (X7–X11 series) or Oracle Exadata Cloud Service.
  • Knowledge or experience supporting Oracle APEX applications—workspaces, schema support, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
  • Exposure to Oracle GoldenGate or other data replication technologies.
  • Experience with cloud-based Oracle deployments (OCI, Azure, AWS) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Oracle Data Guard, DevOps practices, CI/CD, and version control tools.

Education

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (preferred).
  • Relevant certifications (Oracle OCP / OCM) are an added advantage.
