Position Summary: 

Under the supervision of the Project AWARE Coordinator/SCIT Community Project Manager and in collaboration with the Project AWARE Team, compile, analyze and evaluate monthly and quarterly reports from the three participating districts/communities. Develop, carryout and manage additional reporting and/or evaluation activities as assigned. All education staff must adhere to mandated reporting laws. This is a grant funded position. 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Work with Project AWARE team on capturing data and report requirements, while serving as the point of contact for all staff submitting reports for Project AWARE.
  • Ensure data accuracy on reports from the Saginaw Chippewa Academy, other SCIT youth staff, Mt. Pleasant Public Schools, and Shepherd Public Schools.
  • Compile, analyze and evaluate monthly and quarterly reports from participating school districts/communities; including follow-up with staff to ensure data accuracy and quality.
  • In consultation and collaboration with the Project AWARE Team, complete collection and submission of all community data, inclusive of the development of data collection tools, according to Project AWARE required grant measures.
  • Work with Project AWARE team and the Great Lakes Inter-Tribal Epidemiology Center (GLITEC) to develop additional evaluation measures and benchmarks to further data driven understanding of youth mental health and Project AWARE activities.
  • Provide technical assistance to SCIT youth serving staff, Mt. Pleasant Public Schools and Shepherd Public schools in completing monthly, quarterly, and annual reports and evaluation activities.
  • Develop presentations, charts, graphs, summaries, etc. to deliver to multiple stakeholders on Project AWARE progress, evaluation methods, and evaluation outcomes.
  • Deliver data, reporting, and/or evaluation related trainings/professional development opportunities to Saginaw Chippewa Academy, other SCIT youth staff, Mt. Pleasant Public Schools, and Shepherd Public Schools according to Project AWARE needs.
  • Maintain student confidentiality in accordance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and all other privacy regulations.
  • Adhere to client confidentiality and comply with department policies and federal regulations under the Privacy rules of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
  • Provide excellent customer service for all internal and external customers of the operations at all times. Provide solutions for customer concerns and continually focus on customer service as our top priority.
  • Must maintain strict confidentiality and present a positive, professional demeanor and image at all times.

Contacts/Purpose of Contacts: 

  • Contact with the Project AWARE Coordinator/SCIT Community Project Manager, Project AWARE Co-Coordinator, Mt. Pleasant Public School Community Project Manager, Shepherd Public School Community Project Manager, and the Great Lakes Inter-Tribal Epidemiology Center (GLITEC) to effectively understand and analyze data, and carryout activities to support evaluation activities.


Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Master`s Degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Community Health, Biostatistics, Measurement & Evaluation or related field.
  • Experience in data compilation, data analysis, and working knowledge of evaluation methods.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and strong professional writing skills: Sample of work in Excel and writing sample required at time of interview (for candidates invited to interview).
  • Must be able to pass background check to meet the employment eligibility requirements as they pertain to the position.


Desired Qualifications: 

  • Pursuing a PhD in Public Health, Epidemiology, Community Health, Biostatistics, Measurement & Evaluation or related field.


License, Certification, or Special Requirements: 

  • Obtain HIPAA certification within five business days of hire.
  • Must have a valid State of Michigan Driver`s License with the proper designation required for the vehicle utilized to perform the job duties.
  • Native American preference shall apply to all positions.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

  • Knowledge of data compilation, analysis and evaluation.
  • Knowledge of appropriate software needed to effectively analyze data.
  • Skill in operating business computers and office machines, including in a Windows environment, specifically Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds and with co-workers at all levels.
  • Ability to represent organization in a professional manner, building respect and confidence in the community.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to carry out instructions furnished in verbal or written format.


Physical Demands: 

  • Frequent use of hands, wrists, fingers associated with computer equipment.
  • Required to sit for extended periods of time.
  • Normal visual acuity, ability to talk and hear.
