About the Role:
The Design Engineer manages new product creation, engineering changes, and qualification processes for data center products, bills of material, and labor routings for all new products and product changes via prototyping and actual manufacturing process performance analysis. They develop quotations for non-standard and new product pricing requests. The Design Engineer also maintains engineering drawings, specifications, and quality procedure documentation.
What You’ll Do
- Develops processes for new families of products with production, purchasing, quality, and operations teams.
- Employs design for manufacturing techniques to model and design components and assemblies for our proprietary manufacturing techniques.
- Proactively accounts for potential changes to designs and future-proofs where possible.
- Creates quotes for new design and maintains design history throughout quoting
- Maintains engineering drawings and specifications.
- Administers process for new part number creation, bills of material/labor changes, and new product quote requests but not information related to MI%.
- Interprets project needs from customer, project manager, or architectural drawings and communicates feasibility, lead times, and potential challenges.
- Creates project submittal documents for approval of project design and details.
- Supports manufacturing team with new process development.
- Maintains awareness of individual contribution to and impact of the quality, safety, environmental, and product compliance policies and activities; reports all quality issues, unsafe acts, and unsafe conditions to the proper personnel.
Additional Expectation
- Remain compliant with the Code of Conduct and Policies which includes the Kingspan Group Compliance Policy.
- Ensure that all duties related to product compliance are adhered to in accordance with the Product Compliance Policy, Laws, Regulations, and market demands.
- Responsible for all tasks to achieve compliance goals and demands of the Compliance Management System.
- Must raise concerns related to the Compliance Management System to their supervisor, manager, or any member of the Leadership Team, or through the confidential whistle blower service.
What You’ll Bring
- A bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or any STEM field is
- Up to five years of relevant experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
- Proficiency with 2D and 3D CAD (Computer Aided Design) systems is
- Project Management experience is a plus.
- Previous experience with engineering drawing standards and practices, new product development, manufacturing processes and controls a plus.
- Must be proficient with SolidWorks.
- AutoCAD and Revit experience a plus, particularly BIM (Building Information Modeling) modeling.
- -Must have strong attention to detail.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, Teams, etc.) applications and computer technology.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Exceptional organizational and time-management
- Works well in a fast-paced environment.
- Adaptable to changing project requirements.
