Job Description

Responsible for the efficient and accurate management of the receiving area, including the handling, recording, and tracking of incoming goods, inventory, and supplier communication. This role plays a key part in ensuring operational excellence in Oliver and Bonacini Catering and Event functions.

THE DAY to DAY:

  • Oversee and actively manage receiving area, ensuring timely and accurate receipt of dry, frozen, chilled, perishable, and fragile goods.
  • Verify deliveries against purchase orders and supplier invoices for quality, accuracy in descriptions, quantities, and pricing.
  • Log all received goods and corresponding delivery dates in the receiving log.
  • Enter invoices daily into the inventory management system (Optimum Control).
  • Create and maintain recipes, hot lists, and assist in preparing for month-end inventory using Optimum Control.
  • Lead month-end inventory counts and generate reports as required.
  • Ensure security and organization of all storage areas.
  • Safely lift and transport heavy items using proper techniques and equipment.
  • Operate receiving equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Adhere to all relevant health and safety regulations and internal policies.
  • Communicate effectively with suppliers, resolving any issues or discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Prepare goods for outgoing shipments, including proper packaging and documentation.
  • Maintain professional and productive relationships with all suppliers.
  • Flexibility to work overtime, evenings, and weekends as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Ability to plan safe, efficient transport and storage of fragile or perishable goods.
  • Proven track record of maintaining accurate receiving logs, incident notations and filing paperwork in an organized and detailed manner.
  • Experience reviewing invoices, packing slips, and equipment manuals with attention to detail.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Proficient with conducting physical inventory counts and performing basic math accurately.
  • Able to work both collaboratively and independently with minimal supervision. 
  • Skilled with computer use, email, and common software programs including spreadsheets, word processing, and inventory/purchasing systems.
  • Must have the physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and push carts. Must be able to bend, stretch, stand, walk, and climb for extended periods, and work in environments with fluctuating or extreme temperatures.
  • Legally eligible to work in Canada
