Your Role:

We are seeking an device R&D engineering manager to work within MilliporeSigma Process Solutions Aseptic Filtration R&D group. This position will be based at our Bedford, MA campus.

 

As a manager in Aseptic Filtration R&D, you will lead a team of engineers, scientists, and technicians in new product or new technology development projects while ensuring compliance with sound scientific/engineering practices and design control requirements throughout all stages of the project and interact effectively with representatives of Marketing, Manufacturing, and Quality functions.

  • You serve as a tech lead on new product or technology development projects.
  • You provide technical consultation to junior engineers and technicians, and participate in thought leadership activities.
  • You will assure effective allocation and management of resources among multiple projects.
  • You are involved in identifying evolving staffing needs and participate in the hiring process for your area of responsibility.
  • You actively manage employee performance and identify and invest in employee training and development.
  • You provide guidance to scientists/engineers and technicians to complete assigned product/technology development deliverables ensuring high quality of work and compliance with design control and good documentation practices.
  • You interact regularly with other groups, such as Facilities, Engineering Services, Finance, EHS, Plant Operations, R&D, Quality, and Product Management.
  • You assure lab equipment and infrastructure meet the needs in your area of responsibility, participate in identifying and implementing upgraded equipment/new technology and provide support for preventative maintenance and calibration activities.
  • Some travel domestically and internationally as needed.

 

Who You Are

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • B.S. in chemical or mechanical engineering or equivalent plus 8+ years’ experience in a related technical area, 
    • OR MS plus 5+ years,
    • OR PhD plus 3+ years.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills to effectively communicate technical information to different parts of the organization.
  • Track record of technical accomplishments in product development or thought leadership activities.
  • Proven track record of leading projects, familiar with the areas of project management, budgeting, problem solving and statistical data analysis.
  • Managerial experience.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Able to work collaboratively while thinking independently and creatively.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing and process development activities such as troubleshooting, design of experiments, validation, FMEA and design for manufacturing. 
  • Knowledge of filter manufacturing methods is a plus. Knowledge of Aseptic filtration products, processes and bioprocessing applications would be very helpful. 
  • Experience in IP assessment, patent review/ application/publication/external presentation.
  • Demonstrated potential to lead teams, setting objectives, development goals and motivating performance

 

Pay Range: $114,700-$218,300
