About this role

Stock Controller - Awutu Breku, Ghana | M-KOPA

Every unit tracked. Every life connected.

You're the person who catches what others miss.

In your current role, you've built a reputation for precision. Stock discrepancies that would slip past most people? You spot them. Inventory that doesn't reconcile? You find the source. You've mastered the art of keeping things accurate, accountable, and running smoothly.

But here's a question worth sitting with: what if that same precision could do more than keep a warehouse tidy? What if every unit you track, every reconciliation you complete, every stock movement you oversee actually meant something bigger—like ensuring a first-time smartphone owner in rural Ghana can stay connected to opportunities they've never had before?

This is M-KOPA. And this is different.

We've grown from serving 5 million customers to over 7 million across Africa in just the past year. We've unlocked more than $2 billion in credit for people the traditional financial system ignores. 86% of our customers tell us their quality of life has improved. 70% use our products to generate income. And 55% are accessing products and services for the very first time.

Behind every one of those numbers is a supply chain that has to work flawlessly. Stock that needs to be in the right place, at the right time, tracked with absolute accuracy. That's where you come in.

Why This Timing Matters

You might have noticed M-KOPA hiring across multiple roles lately. This isn't random—it's deliberate. We're building the infrastructure to reach 10 million customers, and our Ghana retail operations are central to that growth. The Awutu Breku depot is expanding, and we need someone who can own stock accuracy at a location that's becoming increasingly critical to our distribution network.

This isn't about filling a vacancy. It's about finding someone ready to build systems that scale.

What Makes This Role Different

Most stock controller positions are about maintaining the status quo—counting inventory, filing reports, keeping things from going wrong. This role is about enabling growth.

You won't just track stock; you'll ensure that every smartphone, every solar product, every device that changes someone's life actually reaches them. You'll work at the intersection of retail operations and customer impact, where your daily reconciliations directly affect whether a family in the Central Region gets the technology they need.

Your depot won't just be a warehouse. It'll be a launchpad for financial inclusion.

What You'll Actually Do

Your week might look like this: Monday morning, you're allocating stock for the week's sales targets, coordinating with the sales team on which products are moving fastest. By midweek, you're conducting a depot audit, cross-referencing physical inventory against system records, investigating any variances before they become problems. A customer comes in with a product issue—you're troubleshooting, coordinating an in-warranty repair, making sure they leave satisfied. Friday, you're compiling your stock status report, flagging trends to the warehouse team, and preparing for next week's deliveries.

Throughout it all, you're the person ensuring transparency. Every unit accounted for. Every movement tracked. Every customer interaction handled with care.

What You Bring

  • Demonstrated experience in stock management, inventory control, or retail logistics, with a track record of maintaining high accuracy rates and catching discrepancies before they escalate.

  • Strong data management capabilities, particularly in Excel, with the ability to analyze stock trends, identify patterns, and produce clear reports that drive operational decisions.

  • Customer service experience that shows you can handle product issues and coordinate repairs while maintaining positive relationships—because stock control here isn't just about numbers, it's about people.

The Reality

This role requires someone who genuinely cares about accuracy. Not because the job description says so, but because you understand that in our business, a stock error isn't just an accounting problem—it's a customer who doesn't get what they need. You'll need to be proactive, detail-oriented, and comfortable working across teams.

If you're someone who finds satisfaction in systems that work perfectly, in numbers that reconcile cleanly, in operations that run without a hitch—and you want that work to matter beyond the spreadsheet—this could be exactly what you're looking for.

Ready to make precision count for something bigger?

If you're reading this and thinking "this sounds like what I do, but with actual impact"—that's probably the signal to start a conversation. We'd love to hear from you.
