About this role

We are seeking an exceptional General Manager Finance, QLD/NT to lead the financial reporting, governance, and decision support activities across our QLD and NT Building & Construction businesses. This senior leadership role is based in Brisbane and is critical in driving strategic, financial, and operational performance outcomes across the region.

Working closely with the QLD/NT General Manager and the Chief Financial Officer, Construction, you will provide trusted financial and commercial advice, identify opportunities and risks, influence business performance, and optimise financial outcomes across projects in delivery and upcoming bids. You will also collaborate across a national matrix environment to ensure alignment with broader strategic finance priorities.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Lead financial reporting, controls and commercial insights for the QLD/NT Construction & Building businesses, enabling informed and timely management decision‑making.

  • Attend Project Reviews, ensuring accurate phasing of costs and adherence to key finance policies across project teams.

  • Partner closely with operational leaders to provide robust financial control, technical accounting guidance, and analysis of business performance and project delivery.

  • Provide primary financial support to the QLD/NT General Manager and CFO, ensuring strong financial risk management, governance, and alignment of finance activities.

  • Implement and oversee financial control governance initiatives across key performance metrics.

  • Review, analyse and provide financial/commercial input into tenders for new projects, assessing operational risk and commercial outcomes.

  • Coordinate the delivery of all reporting requirements for the QLD/NT Construction & Building businesses, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and integration with operational and portfolio-level timelines.

  • Support the embedment and application of accounting policies (capitalisation, revenue recognition including success fees, investment spend, cost reliances, etc.) across the finance function.

  • Manage budgeting, forecasting, management reporting (MMRs/QBRs), and project performance analysis, including investigating significant variations to plan and forecast.

  • Maintain strong relationships with regional SLT, Finance Business Partners, and National Construction stakeholders to optimise business performance.

  • Provide subject matter expertise to drive process improvement initiatives across both regional and national finance teams.

  • Lead, coach, finance professionals, fostering a culture of high performance and collaboration.

About You:

  • Extensive experience across financial reporting, financial planning, analytics, and business partnering—ideally within construction, building, infrastructure, or property.

  • Strong leadership capability with experience developing high-performing finance teams.

  • Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders, anticipate issues, and drive commercial outcomes.

  • High levels of energy, outcome orientation, and a strategic mindset.

  • Strong organisational planning, problem solving and decision-making capability.

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in business, finance or commerce; CA/CPA qualifications essential.

  • Post‑graduate qualifications (e.g. MBA) desirable.
