Role SummaryLead end-to-end quality for payment products built on Global PAYplus (GPP Classic/SP). Own test strategy, build scalable Java-based automation, and drive quality in a microservices/API-first ecosystem. This role requires deep payments knowledge (SWIFT/SEPA/Instant Payments), strong CI/CD exposure, and the ability to mentor others and influence engineering quality.Responsibilities & DeliverablesQuality Strategy & Planning
  • Own test strategy for GPP-based releases (functional, integration, E2E, regression, and non-functional).
  • Convert business requirements/user stories into acceptance criteria, BDD scenarios, and traceable test cases.
Test Design & Execution
  • Author comprehensive test cases for payment flows (ISO 20022 MX/MT, SWIFT, SEPA SCT/SCT Inst, instant payments).
  • Design, develop, and maintain Java automation 
  • Execute component, API, integration, and E2E tests; publish clear execution reports .
Data, Environments & Observability
  • Set up and maintain personal/team test environments; coordinate environment readiness for releases.
  • Create/run SQL scripts (Oracle/PostgreSQL) to seed complex payment scenarios and validate results (fees, FX, posting, settlement).
  • Read logs/traces for root-cause analysis.
Automation Engineering & CI/CD
  • Integrate automation in CI/CD (Jenkins, Git, Maven/Gradle), enable parallel runs, and maintain green pipelines.
  • Track coverage, eliminate flaky tests, and maintain quality dashboards.
Defect Management & Stakeholder Communication
  • Own defect lifecycle from detection to resolution; conduct RCAs and drive preventive actions.
  • Communicate quality status, risks, and readiness confidently; support pre-GA activities and production cutovers.
Process, Leadership & Compliance
  • Mentor QA engineers; contribute to hiring, onboarding, and playbooks.
  • Maintain RTM, test evidence, and audit-ready artifacts (PCI-aligned controls where applicable).
Key Deliverables: Test strategy/plan, traceability matrix, test cases, automation suites, performance scripts, execution & quality dashboards, defect & RCA logs, release readiness reports.Required Experience & Skills (Must-Have)
  • Experience as Software QA; hands-on GPP (Classic/SP) experience in production-grade projects.
  • Payments domain expertise: SWIFT (MT/MX), ISO 20022, SEPA (SCT/SCT Inst), Instant Payments; understanding of STP, fees/charges, settlement, cutoffs.
  • Java-based automation: Java 8+
  • API testing for REST/SOAP (Postman, SOAP UI); schema/contract and negative testing.
  • CI/CD & build: Jenkins, Git, Maven/Gradle; integrating automation into pipelines.
  • SQL proficiency (Oracle/PostgreSQL) for data setup/validation.
  • Strong analytical skills, stakeholder communication, and ownership across the SDLC.
Good-to-Have / Preferred
  • Messaging & Eventing: IBM MQ (queues, persistence, DLQ handling) and Apache Kafka (topics, partitions, consumer groups); testing idempotency, ordering, and at-least/exactly-once semantics.
  • Containers & orchestration: Docker, Kubernetes for test environments and CI runners.
  • Cloud (AWS/Azure/GCP) for ephemeral test environments.
  • Domain extras: AML/sanctions integrations, reconciliation/posting/ledger validations in GPP.
  • Certifications: ISTQB Advanced (Test Analyst/Test Manager), Agile/Scrum, Performance testing, Kubernetes.

  • APIs: REST, SOAP (Postman, SOAP UI)
  • Build/CI: Maven/Gradle, Jenkins, Git
