BMO Capital Markets’ Global Markets Engineering team is seeking an Analyst/Associate-level Quantitative Analyst to support the development and implementation of systematic indices and quantitative models used across equity derivatives and structured products. The role includes hands-on model development, daily desk support, and collaboration with trading, structuring, risk, and technology teams. The successful candidate will contribute to production-ready solutions and ensure operational stability of QIS models and index processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, enhance, and maintain systematic QIS index strategies and quantitative models.
  • Implement efficient, modular, and well-structured code using object-oriented programming principles.
  • Build and support backtesting frameworks, analytics tools, and index monitoring systems.
  • Provide daily desk support for equity derivatives trading, including resolving production issues and responding to real-time inquiries.
  • Assist trading and structuring teams with analytics related to pricing, risk, and structured payoffs linked to QIS indices.
  • Collaborate with other groups such as Model Validation and Market Risk to support model documentation, methodology reviews, and risk analysis.
  • Ensure high standards of reliability, documentation, testing, and process consistency across all production systems.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, Statistics, Physics, or a related quantitative field.
  • Demonstrated experience with object-oriented programming (e.g., Python, C++, C#, Java) and software engineering best practices.
  • Solid understanding of probability, statistics, linear algebra, and numerical methods.
  • Familiarity with equities, derivatives, and financial market concepts.
  • Ability to troubleshoot data, model, and production issues in a time-sensitive environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain quantitative concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to operational accuracy.
  • Proactive and organized, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver under deadlines.
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work across trading, risk, technology, and support teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A graduate degree in one of the above-mentioned quantitative fields
  • Experience with systematic investment strategies, factor models, or quantitative index frameworks.
  • Knowledge of equity derivatives pricing, volatility concepts, or structured product mechanics.
  • Exposure to production-level model deployment or front-office environments.

The salary range for this role is $110,000 up to $120,000 USD at the Analyst level or $150,000 up to $200,000 USD at the Associate level (subject to the candidate meeting the specific skills, experience, education, and qualification requirements).

$69,000.00 - $127,800.00

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.

BMO Financial Group’s total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
