We help people live their best lives. We help them with the big stuff, for the moments that matter: Pensions, Savings, Investments. At Aegon, we strive in creating a diverse organisation that plays a meaningful role in driving greater equity, inclusion and belonging.

The Finance Data Management team is part of the Aegon UK’s Finance function, with accountability for key Finance systems and their operation.  It develops and maintains a high-quality data resource that, through a chain of information and knowledge, supports the business goals of the organisation. This team drives and manages the data, ensuring design principles are embedded and that they are the single point of contact for projects and change.

As Finance Data Engineering Manager, you will lead the teams responsible for developing new data led solutions and to drive process improvements across the finance teams. In this position you will also assume ownership of all data warehouse responsibilities with the support of your team.  You will also oversee and manage key SLAs on our data, supported by Internal Audit, SOx, and IT governance.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Leading, mentoring, and developing a high-performing team of Data Engineers, Data Developers, and Data Analysts

  • Oversight of the end-to-end development cycle of Data developments, ensuring robust design, development, testing, and deployment of data and reporting solutions, in line with agreed governance and business design methodologies

  • Managing the resource planning, workload prioritisation, and performance of the team

  • Oversee and optimise Finance reconciliation processes using Autorek, ensuring data quality, control, and compliance

  • Drive automation, quality, and operational excellence across data engineering and reconciliation processes

  • Uphold Enterprise data governance and security guidelines, ensuring alignment with both industry best practice, as well as Aegon policy and procedures and Audit recommendations

  • Through strong, consistent engagement and collaboration with stakeholders, educate the business on data management principles and actively challenge where data processes are not centralised, and ensure delivery of solutions/changes are aligned with business needs and governance standards

  • Supporting the Head of Finance Data Management in setting and executing the agenda for future data developments

We’d love to hear from you if you have:

  • Extensive experience of data management processes and technologies

  • Extensive knowledge of data integration tools (e.g., IBM DataStage, Python) and enterprise reporting and analytics tools (e.g., Cognos BI, Tableau)

  • Experience in leading and coaching teams, including workload prioritisation and support and development support

  • Expert awareness of data warehouse principles

  • Proven expertise in project management and working in Agile environments

  • Great stakeholder management skills including the ability to influence and challenge stakeholders of varying levels where appropriate

  • Experience managing complex workflows with various demands and prioritising these workflows effectively to maximise output

What’s in it for you?

  • We’re serious about your future and our enhanced pension scheme is now in place.  We ask you to contribute 3% of your salary to your pension and we’ll put in 9%.  If you decide to contribute more, we’ll match it up to a combined total of 20% of your salary (that’s 7% from you and 13% from us).

  • A discretionary bonus, depending on personal and company performance

  • 38 days leave per year (including bank holidays, pro-rated for part-time)

We also offer private medical cover, life assurance, critical illness cover, enhanced parental leave and a variety of lifestyle benefits to help our employees live their best lives, including retail discount vouchers, cycle2work scheme, subsidised restaurant and online GP appointments. To find out more about what to expect at Aegon, visit our careers site.
