Postdoctoral Research Associate

• Full time fixed term 12 months at Camperdown

• Research Fellow role supporting research in organ donation and transplantation

• Base Salary $127,436 + 17% superannuation 

About the opportunity

We are seeking a Research Fellow to support Angela Webster and her research team in health services research focusing on risk literacy and organ donor selection for transplantation, evidence based decision making for transplantation, multimorbidity with kidney disease including cancer, and the cognitive effects of chronic diseases, and the impact this has on health.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

• apply a comprehensive understanding of epidemiological methods and principals to the teams work program

• lead cohort studies across large and complex health datasets

• manage design and delivery of largescale national and international data-linkage projects, ensuring ethical oversight, stakeholder engagement and collaboration management

• manage randomised clinical trials across multiple sites from set up, conduct to completion

• contribute to the team’s publications, grant applications, and scholarly output

• prepare and present research findings through annual reports, peer-reviewed manuscripts, and national/international conferences

• produce clear and concise reports, visualisations, and presentations to communicate complex findings effectively

• contribute to competitive research funding applications and deliver measurable research impact

• supervise postgraduate students and mentor junior researchers in statistical methodology and research design

• participate in faculty/school meetings and contribute to administrative responsibilities

• foster a collaborative and inclusive research culture that values diversity, innovation, and excellence

• engage with industry, government, and community stakeholders through public events, seminars, and forums

About you

• PhD in health services research and a postgraduate qualification in research methods (eg Masters in Epidemiology, biostatistics, or MPH)

• extensive experience conducting original research and publishing in peer-reviewed journals

• demonstrated expertise in epidemiology of chronic diseases, including kidney disease and cancer, with a strong track record of contributing to team-based research outputs

• in-depth knowledge of organ transplantation and procurement services, and the associated regulatory frameworks

• some knowledge of immunological science relevant to organ and tissue cross matching and knowledge of organ transplant cross-matching laboratory science and procedures

• proven ability to supervise and mentor postgraduate students and junior researchers

• excellent communication skills with the ability to present findings clearly to diverse audiences

• strong collaborator experienced working with interdisciplinary teams and stakeholders (internal and external)

• commitment to research excellence and contributing to strategic academic initiatives

• positive attitude, strong work ethic, and meticulous attention to detail
