About this role

About the role

The Finance team plays a pivotal role in guiding the company's growth trajectory, through meticulous financial analysis and foresight. We provide insightful recommendations to senior leadership, leveraging data-driven insights to optimize resource allocation and mitigate risks. With a focus on driving efficiency and maximizing shareholder value, the Finance function at DS Smith fosters a culture of accountability and transparency, underpinning the company's long-term financial sustainability and success.

We have a fabulous opportunity for an Internal Auditor to join the Internal Audit team. Due to the growth and expansion of this team, this is great opportunity for the right candidate to be part of shaping the role and how the team interact with the wider business.

Confident in nature, the successful candidate will communicate effectively with staff at all levels to quickly understand business processes, identify potential risk areas and help devise practical solutions to issues affecting our company.

This role supports various sites within Europe, and so given the international nature of the role you will enjoy travelling and working with our internal colleagues and external partners. You will also be responsible for delivering financial and non-financial audits across our sites, working closely with the site teams and providing timely, insightful, and well written reports – an exciting opportunity to build relationships within the business!

As well as the day to day – the successful candidate will be able to implement their own ideas to improve and streamline the current processes. So having a curious mindset, being able to challenge our current ways of working and having the confidence to back your ideas is actively encouraged here.

So, whether you are an existing Auditor looking for a new challenge or working in a finance, risk or compliance role and looking for a new challenge – then we might be looking for you!

About you

  • Demonstrable experience of working in a compliance or audit role
  • Internal audit, risk, or accountancy qualification or equivalent – desirable but not essential
  • European language skills highly advantageous
  • The ability to influence and confidently communicate and engage with a variety of stakeholders
  • Experience of writing high quality reports
  • Able to work independently but also comfortable building strong working relationships with colleagues and partners around the business
  • Willingness to travel

Location:  This is a full-time role, split between home working and our Head Office in Paddington, London in non-audit weeks. This role would involve approx. 25% travel to other sites in Europe.
