The Cape Town EDITION | V&A Waterfront
Opening in 2026, The Cape Town EDITION will introduce contemporary luxury lifestyle hospitality to the iconic V&A Waterfront. Located on Quay 7, the hotel will feature 142 guestrooms, including six serviced apartments, and will operate under an international management agreement.
Developed through the partnership between Marriott International and legendary hotelier Ian Schrager, EDITION Hotels represent refined design, deeply personalised service, and vibrant social energy—each hotel reflecting the culture and creative spirit of its destination.
The Cape Town EDITION is poised to become one of the city’s most influential culinary, social, and lifestyle destinations.
Role Overview
The Human Resources Manager supports the day‑to‑day operations of the Human Resources function at The Cape Town EDITION, working closely with the HR team and property leadership.
This role is responsible for delivering effective HR services across recruitment, employee relations, onboarding, training coordination, compensation administration, and compliance, ensuring a positive associate experience while supporting business goals and legal requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Recruitment & Onboarding
- Support recruitment, selection, and hiring processes across the property
- Build and maintain partnerships with recruitment sources, vendors, and local networks
- Coordinate new hire orientation and ensure a positive, brand‑aligned onboarding experience
Employee Relations
- Act as a point of contact for associate queries and concerns, maintaining an open‑door approach
- Review disciplinary documentation for accuracy and consistency
- Partner with leaders to support fair and timely resolution of employee matters
Training & Development Support
- Coordinate training initiatives and support cross‑training efforts
- Ensure departmental onboarding and job‑specific training are in place
- Promote service culture and performance expectations
Legal, Compliance & Risk
- Maintain accurate, confidential employee records in line with legislation
- Support compliance with labour laws, employment equity, and privacy requirements
- Manage Workers’ Compensation and support accident investigations where required
- Participate in safety initiatives and promote a safe working environment
Candidate Profile
- Diploma or degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field or relevant experience in a Human Resources or operations role
- Experience in hospitality or service‑led environments preferred
- Strong communication, organisational, and problem‑solving skills
- Sound knowledge of basic HR practices, employee relations, and compliance
