Key Responsibilities
Tax Compliance and Advisory
- Prepare annual income tax returns for individuals, partnerships, companies and trusts
- Prepare and reference supporting workpapers, including:
- Tax reconciliations
- Fixed asset registers
- Rental property and motor vehicle calculations
- Foreign exchange and capital gain/loss calculations
- Manage and monitor tax lodgement lists to ensure compliance with Australian Tax Office (ATO) deadlines
- Liaise with internal teams and clients to ensure all tax filings are completed accurately and on time
- Coordinate with the ATO and clients regarding tax payments, lodgement status, payment plans and interest remissions
- Assist in providing tax planning and advisory support when required
Accounting and Financial Reporting
- Prepare annual financial statements for private companies in compliance with Australian accounting standards
- Prepare monthly management accounts with analytical review and variance analysis
- Manage intercompany transactions, including posting of interest charges and service fee invoices
- Guide and train junior staff and bookkeepers, reviewing their accounting and tax work for accuracy
- Oversee the month-end close process, including accounts receivable/payable cut-offs, bank and loan reconciliations, and posting of journals
- Support process improvement initiatives to enhance reporting efficiency
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline
- Part in CA, CPA, ACCA or equivalent professional qualification
- Minimum of two years’ experience in Australian or UK accounting and taxation is essential
- Strong technical understanding of accounting and tax principles
- Excellent communication skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines effectively
