About this role
At Hapag-Lloyd, the Network and Cooperations department is responsible for designing, maintaining and optimizing our ship systems. The Network Planning and Optimization team leads the development of the required tools and methods in collaboration with our DIA and IT departments.
For this team, we are seeking a Manager Network Design Excellence. In this role, you will have the opportunity to shape our data-driven design processes and support our network designers with simulation and optimization studies.
- Coordinate the data exchange with stakeholders and systems outside of our department (e.g., VFM, Data Lake), incl. data and process specification, and quality assurance
- Conduct advanced data analyses on operational topics, tapping into a broad range of available data sources (incl. BI tools, databases)
- Gather and prioritize requirements for new or improved analytical tools
- Develop and enhance existing BI dashboards for users in our department
- Coordinate system improvements with our DIA / IT colleagues where needed
- Build and maintain our data catalogue, define and execute processes for data maintenance and quality improvements, and close data gaps
- Support the development and enhancement of our simulation and optimization tools
- Support our network designers with simulation and optimization studies
- Train network designers in the use of our analytics tools, be point-of-contact for support, and build user documentation / training materials
- Drive innovation in analytics and AI within our department
- University or university of applied science degree in IT, business, engineering, logistics or similar subject
- Domain knowledge about shipping networks, network design and network profitability is a strong plus
- Strong background in data analysis, including advanced knowledge in Microsoft Excel
- Proficiency in programming (e.g., Python) and SQL
- Advanced user of BI tools (e.g., QlikSense) and experience with report development
- Strong social skills and very good communication skills in English (spoken and written), German is a plus
