Lancashire County Council is seeking a passionate and innovative Senior Data Engineer to join our dynamic Digital User Experience team. This is your opportunity to play a pivotal role in modernising our data architecture, driving digital transformation, and delivering real impact for our communities.

What will you do?

  • Lead the way: Design, build, and deploy scalable, automated ETL/ELT pipelines and data flows that power analytics and business intelligence across the council.
  • Innovate and optimise: Re-engineer manual data processes, automate business intelligence reports, and support statutory returns to enable smarter, faster decision-making.
  • Shape the future: Collaborate with the Data Architect and Data Manager to deliver the council’s digital data strategy, support master data management, and create assured data sets.
  • Mentor and inspire: Share your expertise with colleagues, supporting their development and fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
  • Engage and influence: Work closely with key stakeholders, propose creative solutions, and ensure our services are customer-focused and future-ready.

What do you bring?

  • Substantial experience in data engineering, including cloud-based platforms (Azure, AWS), SQL, Python, and modern analytics tools.
  • Proven ability to design and implement end-to-end digital solutions, automate data flows, and optimise data for BI systems.
  • Experience with Agile and DevOps methodologies, and a passion for continuous improvement.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the confidence to present complex ideas in a clear, engaging way.
